Tantalus
That unexplainable feeling.
The loosening of the hand. The wandering off like a child. The space. The distance. The in-between. The loss. -Voyante, "Loss".

Relations Mate: Shrill (deceased), Hedwig (deceased), Brielle (deceased) Children: None. Close Friends: The other slaves. Enemies: None. Personality Tantalus was once a loud dragon, the sort to protest any sort of restriction, but fate ruined him and changed him into an empty husk of a dragon. He never speaks; the most you could ever get out of him would be a nod or shake of the head. His eyes seem glassy when you lift the mask, and his feathers are dull and unkempt. He doesn't care about himself. All he cares about is fufilling any orders given to him, no questions asked. There is no hatred or cruelty in him; there is only the desire to have his first mate returned to him. He no longer sees himself as a dragon. Even in his own eyes, he is a tool, and tools are meant to be used as the owner sees fit. Background As a mere hatchling, Tantalus was wrenched from his parents and put onto the market, chained and collared. He spent weeks in a cage before being purchased by Valko. The older dragon dragged Tantalus through several clans, sent away each time, before finally coming to rest in the clan of the dead. Now, Tantalus is a slave to the entire clan, doing as they order him to, no matter the danger to his own life. He met Shrill early on, and immediately liked her. It helped that she couldn't focus long enough to give orders. Valko, however, hated the idea of the two becoming mates, and denied Tantalus's request for being with Shrill. He attempted to force Tantalus to become Minya's mate, but Tantalus utterly rejected her in spirit despite being forced to be with her in body. Despite Valko's orders, Tantalus began seeing Shrill in secret, and the two could often be found in the far reaches of the territory. It was weeks before Valko became aware of their union, and he attempted to kill Shrill once he knew. Shrill only survived because Tantalus intervened, saving her life at the cost of his bodily integrity. He lost an eye to Valko that day, but Valko ceased intervening in Tantalus's affairs. For several months, the two enjoyed being with one another, and all was well. However, all good things must come to an end, and their relationship was no exception. The land was one of war; Tantalus would not have been sold into servitude in a time of peace. Battles were fought daily to maintain the territory. Normally, Shrill was kept from fighting due to her attention span, but she'd slipped by unnoticed in battle. She was killed by a dragon of the light, her body dragged away and burned. When Tantalus returned from battle, Shrill was not there waiting for him, not within the camp. For the second time in his life, he disobeyed a direct order and flew out of the territory, hunting for his beloved. He found nothing but the remnants of a mass burning of dragons, their ashes floating in the wind, scales littered on the grass. Her scales shined the brightest of all. Tantalus did not go home that night. He did not go home the next. He stayed out of the territory for a full cycle of the moon, killing any dragon he saw, before slinking back into clan territory and hiding away at its fringes. He was found within a day, emancated and broken, and dragged back to the lair against his will. Valko himself oversaw Tantalus's punishment, his cold gaze locked on the dragon as he was chained, beaten, and humiliated. His name was taken from him; Tantalus was only ever referred to as "slave" from that day on. Valko took full control of Tantalus's breeding rights, giving him Hedwig as a replacement mate. Tantalus never complained, and to this day has not again disobeyed an order. He is not the dragon he once was. When Valko was banished from the clan for his cruelty, Tantalus became the property of the clan, and serves no master in particular. |

He reminds me on a statue standing over centuries untouched but watching, always watching until one day he was not just watching, but acting. With no emotions or feelings, just the cold stone he was once carved from sort of feel. Carving to understand the world around himself taking souvenirs from the living he encounters, building himself a body made of flesh believing this will make him feel like anyone else does. Unaware that his taken little gifts cost his "victims" life.
And my apologies, got carried away a bit and for sure it wont suit your original lore for him, but it just gave me the vibe ^u^
