Born from the tears shed from the right eye of his father, Izanagi, Tsukuyomi and his sister Amaterasu were born to rule over the heavens together as a married couple as decreed by their father. It was the only life that the young god had ever known.
Everything seemed to be going well at first, and the young Lunar god truly did love this bride to be, but inside him a darkness festered without his knowing... one that would not be silenced till eons later, of course nearly anyone who knows their mythos knows that Tsukuyomi was banished after the 'murder' of the goddess Uke Mochi. Though that tale is not as simple as one might tell you.
In order to understand that tale, first we must understand the underlying truths behind his creation. Created from his father's tears as he purified himself after exiting the underworld, there was a darkness that lay within each of his children. Tsukuyomi was simply more suseptible to it than his siblings, given that a good chunk of his light was reflected from his sister's. The evil emerged upon the first Lunar Eclipse and haunted him for eons

Though one night, during a festival near the foothills of mount Fuji, he met his soulmate, a Norse god by the name of Loki. Loki understood him in ways no one else had been able to, and accepted him for who he was, and in turn, allowed him to accept himself. The eclipse form of himself does sometimes appear but it is not something to be feared, simply a phase of the moon.
Tsukuyomi is not sure what he would do without his husband or their son, but knows he would defend them with his life, even if he had to venture into Yomi itself to save them.
