Biography
Junebug /joon - buhg/ scarab beetle. Founder Where the star shines bright, helps you find the way home to me ♫ |
personality He’s a bit schizophrenic but he’s a total softie and always willing to help a dragon out. This dragon spaces out all the time, lost in daydreams, and is probably on the ADHD spectrum. backstory Junebug awoke in the recesses of the Hewn Rubble. He never remembered how he got there, but only that one day, he opened his eyes, and was thrust into existence. The maroon dragon, not even half meter long, was greeted by bright sunshine and long ago fallen arches and statues. Instinctively, the fae sniffed the air around him and moved his large fan-like crest to gauge the situation. He smelt only the dust and sun baked rubble around him, but did sense something large moving towards him. Heart quickening, he ducked under a fallen pillar, and waited. The curious one couldn’t help but peek at the mysterious figure when it passed by. He carefully extended his head into the open, and was greeted by a view of a beautiful female dragon with eyes of liquid amethyst tiptoeing by quickly, clearly on edge. Sensitive eardrums pricking at the rustling, the rust and lavender form whirled around and snarled in the general direction of the noise, eyes darting to and fro, trying to pinpoint the place of the sound. The tiny creature almost peed himself, but not before he ducked out of his hiding spot and scrambled away. He could hear the pursuits of the dragon behind him and took to the skies. Unfurling his cream colored wings, and hanging on to an instinct passed down to dragons for centuries, he took off and flew for the first time. Desperation flooding his veins, he went as high as he could, going even above the fluffy cumulus clouds. The rushing air burned his young eyes and they blurred his vision. He did his best for a whooping 5 minutes to evade the ever approaching rust colored dragon, but was unsuccessful as the guardian dragon was much larger and stronger than him. A decisive bat to his back, and Junebug went down. With a squawk, he tumbled through the sky, and got drenched with moisture as he passed through the clouds. He panicked as he twisted around, even choking on his own breath, struggling against the strong wind and his own inexperience. As he neared his aerial demise from the heavens(or as it seemed like to him), he felt a strong burst of air from below slowing his drop. He craned his long neck down and realized that it was the guardian dragon gliding gracefully under him, powerful lavender wings flapping, preventing him from an unsightly death. “I have you.” was the last thing he heard as he blacked out. Again he awoke, but this time, on a high grassy plateau away from any rubble. He squinted his eyes and got up, surveying his surroundings. There was a small pile of insects on the ground near him and he was a little hesitant to touch it. But no one was around, and he was tremendously hungry. The fae gingerly nicked a mealworm from the pile and bit into it, grinning in satisfaction as fresh blood flooded into his parched mouth. Moments later, he heard a powerful whoosh of flapping wings. He looked up. There she was, the guardian dragon. When she landed near the pile of food and dropped her newly caught insects into the pile, he stared at her with wide eyes, his mealworm still hanging in his mouth. “You’re up.” “Yeah.” the little dragon squeaked to answer, inadvertently dropping his mealworm from his mouth. “Oh sorry” he winced in embarrassment, “…I hope you don’t mind that I ate a worm. Here…” He nudged the pile of bugs with his small purple claw towards her. “Oh,” the guardian chuckled, “those are for you. I prefer seafood.” “Oh. Well, thank you, then! It's so nice of you to catch food for me. You even got the bugs that I like! ” he grinned, picking up his fallen mealworm. “Hey, don’t worry about it.” the guardian reassured him. “I was just passing by, and I’m not going to leave anyone alone who needs help. By the way, what were you doing out there…alone? It’s not a populated territory, rather, it’s quite dangerous.” A dark flicker ran through her eyes. “I-” The fae lowered his eyes sadly, fan dropping, “Well, that’s the thing. I don’t know how I got here. It was like I awoke from darkness and all of a sudden I existed.” “Hmm…” the rust and lavender dragon looked away suddenly and hummed. “Well, I do know of someone who has had that experience, actually. You can visit her to learn about it, but she’s all the way across Sornieth, in the lands of the Arcanist.” “Sor…ni…eth? Ar..cane.” The fae felt out the new words in his mouth, and tilted his head in curiosity. “Oh right! You don’t know about our world. Sornieth is the name for the world of dragon-kind. The one dragons live in.” the guardian explained. “It has eleven elemental flights, and each are assigned a place to live in Sornieth that represents their elements. For example, dragons aligning with the Ice flight live in the Southern Icefield and dragons aligning with the Nature flight live in the Viridian Labyrinth.” The guardian paused and frowned suddenly, squinting at the small dragon. “What?” the little dragon said, shrinking a little under her gaze. “And if I’m correct,” she continued slowly, “You’re an Arcane dragon.” “How do you know?” “Your eyes are pink, like mine.” “Oh.” “You know what Junebug, I..I have to tell you something. You know the person who I said who also had the same experience as you, well, it’s me.” the guardian took a deep breath, “I’m sorry for lying, but I just thought it would be easier to explain later.” “I'm Lorelle, and I also suddenly started existing in this world, just like you.” Two pairs of magenta eyes sparkled in the sunlight in the glittering rubble, gazing deep into the other. Two so different, but yet so harmonious souls danced around each other, taking in the other in, reveling in their siblinghood. It was the start of a beautiful friendship and legacy. job As the co-founder it's a bit of an unspoken agreement that he looks over the clan. However, he leaves most of the leadership work to best friend and lover Lorelle, who is much better at organization and direction. He'll let her tell him what to do. You can find him in his study most of the time, reading up on Arcane magic and experimenting with runes. quirks He often goes on mental health walks at midnight to quell his anxiety. |
