Biography

Moon
Spiritual Shaman

Personality.png

Flighty and skittish, Moon is the type of dragon to prefer finding friends among the stars that manage to peek through the thick smog that billows over the territory of Ashthorne. He spends much of his time alone mapping the sky and its constellations, consolidating them in a book that he keeps at his side at all times. From a distance, Moon seems standoffish and averse to the dragons around him, not normally engaging with many of his clanmates. In reality Moon is just deeply awkward and has trouble holding conversations properly. Under normal circumstances Moon is very softspoken with a nervous stutter, not wanting to be continuously misheard by his clanmates, and with a deep fear of small talk, he tends to speak much less than the dragons around him. Paired with his celestial obsession, Moon is seen as strange even within the ranks of Ashthorne, but he is no less respected and necessary to the clan as Moon’s faith in the gods and reliance on the stars and the visions he gets from them, gives him a deep reverence not only for the Gods, but for the dragons who move on from the clan to serve them. Co-opting their preparation for exaltation as a spiritual guide, Moon lends himself to help ready Laeers for the next realm where they will serve under the flamecaller. Moon also helps to serve as an advisor to Nightkaia and even other members of the clan in matters of spiritual and moral guidance using the energies from the stars, and occasionally a tarot card deck, to help dragons align with themselves in moments of uncertainty.

Biography.png

Born in the Dusk sanctum, Moon always found himself to be a little different from his clutchmates, while the hatchlings around him were more concerned with playing and fighting eachother, Moon spent his time following the ley lines that the sanctum was built upon. The research that the dragons of his clan had committed their lives to absolutely fascinated him, and though he was discouraged from sticking his nose into the work his clan was doing for fear of him getting under the clan’s claws, Moon still managed to learn an impressive amount in the time it took for him to be allowed to engage in the clan’s work. For years, his goal was to understand the ley lines, and the intense emotions he got while nearby them, eventually deviating from the strictly academic tests and theories to follow more spiritual experiments, trying to understand how the magic of the ley lines affected the mind, magic and soul of a dragon. His clan were disdainful of his less-than-clinical studies, but they would tolerate it for many years, allowing for moon to reach breakthroughs in the emotional science of the land, but it would come to a head when one of his experiments ended up causing a magical event so intense that it caused multiple dragons to have their souls swapped with other dragons, causing mass hysteria and disorder within the clan.

Incensed, the clan exiled moon, forcing him to leave the safety of the sanctum and the comfort of his home. His banishment was devastating for Moon, leaving the Wildclaw suddenly lost in life as he was forced to wander the lands of the Shadowbinder. Unsure of what to do with himself, he focused his mind on studying the stars as he bounced from clan to clan, this obsession eventually leading him to the doorstep of the arcanist. With nowhere to go, his life reduced to flitting between clans with no hope of fitting in with the clans that offered him shelter, Moon believed that his journey would end here, in the service of the ultimate stargazer. The moment Moon’s claw touched the handle of the observatory door, however, He was met with a splitting agony in his brain as the Horrible, Eldritch voice of the arcanist boomed in his skull.

This is not where you belong, young one.
(This is not where you belong, young one.)
Your stars have been ignored, you are needed elsewhere.
(Your stars have been ignored, you are needed elsewhere.)

The force of the Arcanist’s voice threw him back, the wildclaw stumbling down the stairs and landing heavily on the ground, facing the stars. The words of the Arcane deity echoing in his mind, he watched the sky, his eyes locking on the north star. He focused his mind, thinking of nothing but the stars, silently, hoping, begging for something to happen, something to show him a way forward. As he watched the sky, his scales began to tingle, a soft tugging on his wings spurring Moon to get up. His eyes on the stars, Moon spread his wings, and flew. For hours he followed the stars, feeling the faint celestial energies coursing through his veins as he soared, his fears and worries fading as he recited the names of the stars in the sky under his breath.

It was a feeling he had never felt before, and as he Kept on his path he began to hear the whispers of the deities, Feeling their presence in his chest. Never before had Moon truly understood the deities that watched over them, The love of the gods that had created the dragons that walked sornieth, but in this moment Moon felt peace in that those who had created him were watching him. protecting him. In his stupor, Moon was not watching where he was flying, and crashed headlong into another dragon, the pair falling in a whirlwind of limbs from the sky, down through the layer of smog that covered the Ashfall waste and almost straight to the ground had the dragon he had collided with not manage to right them both and catch Moon only inches from the charred earth. Looking up, Moon locked eyes with the enormous guardian that held him like a toy in his claws and all of a sudden his mind cleared. The kind Guardian introduced himself as Solace, inviting the Wildclaw back to his home, a fledgling fire clan by the name of Ashthorne. Despite his hesitation to join yet another clan, He felt that this was where his stars were leading him. Choosing to put his trust in solace, He agreed.

Moon’s love of all things celestial eventually lead him to reach a spiritual awakening as well, Digging his claws into the study of the supernatural and how it interacts with the magic inherent in the land of Sornieth, his studies even advancing to harnessing celestial power and his own magic to even allow him to walk in the spirit planes that the gods and their disciples reside in. In one of these excursions, upon the return of his soul to the mortal plane, he opened his eyes to see a Masked Phantom hovering in front of him, clearly having stowed away on Moon’s energy. Trying and failing to convince the wayward spirit to go back to his native plane, Moon eventually took the spectre into his care, naming it as his familiar and using him to further study the connection between the various planes of existence.
When he’s not accompanying Moon between planes, Spirit generally doesn’t find himself doing much, aimlessly floating around Moon’s den, sometimes reverting to his dormant state where he conceals himself in his mask. Many a dragon has been surprised by the sudden presence of Spirit if they happen to don the mask.

Name: Moon

Title: Spiritual shaman

Moon is a nocturnal dragon, preferring to stay above ground and watch the stars. His parents believe he should probably be an arcane dragon, but shadow still fits. he seems to stay up long nights drawing and sketching the stars in the sky and the constellations that they create. he usually says up long nights doing it. He is not a fan of the daytime, or light in general. He loves to just relax in a small den that he dug out himself away from the nests and the hatchling den. It is constantly dark in there, so it is perfect for him. Lucky he has really good night-vision. He currently seems to be the only dragon who can understand that gibberish that diabla speaks. while he worships the shadowbinder as much as any other rightful shadow dragon should, he believes that here is another, hidden, twelfth deity that is giving him power. The name and element of this deity? Moonwatcher of the Celestial Flight. This is also where his spells come from, as he is a mage and he has the ability to create his own spells, however, like wynten's potions, A few of them go awry and cause a bit of damage within the clan. He also causes havoc in the clan by being one of the Biggest tricksters in the whole clan, using his magic to be able to mess with the clan members.

Place in the timeline: Series 4: Prophecy of the stars

Familiar: Spirit (Masked Phanom)
For some odd reason, Moon is very adept at communicating with ghosts and lost souls like Spirit. he believes that he gets it from the stars and the power of the night. Spirit seems to be the pure manifestation of his power, as that is what summoned him to Moon's side. Spirit is quite a help to moon when it comes to honing his ability to communicate with spirits.
