Nitrogen never really enjoyed being secluded from others, ever since he was hatched within the borders of Storm clan territory. Storm clan cuts itself off from the outside world, keeping a barrier of mist and magick wrapped around their land. This didn't sit well with him. He liked meeting new dragons and exploring new places. So much so that he sometimes would sneak out beyond the barrier. One day, he'd been feeling overly lonely. Everyone else was busy with their own tasks and so he decided to go on an adventure. Slinking away in the shadows, he entered the mist. Instantly, a wave of nausea washed over him. Clutching his stomach, he continued forward, determination lighting his eyes. He broke through the barrier and sighed in relief. Now exposed, he shivered violently, his lightning element making him weak in the fierce cold wind. Within the barrier, the air was monitored and controlled so dragons of all elements could thrive. But the outside did not have such protections. |

As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but a barren wasteland of ice and snow with a few scant trees gracing the area. He sighed and began trudging through the pilled up snow. Jumping a foot or two occasionally gave him great joy, playing in the freezing snowflakes. Walking for some time, he came across a lake. Spotting the sheet of ice covering most of it, he gleefully leapt onto the frozen water and began skating across, using his wings to help steer and propel him. However, the ice was thinner than expected. After a few minutes of playing, he heard the ice groan underneath him. He looked down to see cracks forming. Scrambling to get away proved difficult, him unable to help from slipping and sliding. With a final and loud groan, the ice collapsed. He squawked as he hit the water. Everything was too cold. Too numb. In an attempt to get to safety, he flailed his talons, trying to swim to shore. Yet, as he continued, his vision began to fail him and a welcoming darkness lingered at the edges. Unable to fight any longer, he gave in, certain he'd die here, only wishing he could see his family once more. Coming back to consciousness, he opened his weary eyes. Blinking, he saw that he was in Vallei's den. In his joy, he attempted to get upright, but collapsed when he noticed he couldn't feel his limbs. Fearful, he began whimpering. Vallei entered the den and, upon seeing his state, rushed over. She comforted and hushed him. Quietly, she explained everything and told him what happened. Then, she ridiculed him for being foolish enough to leave without anyone else knowing. Tired, he promised he'd never do something like that again. As he grew up, his desire for companionship and his sense of danger faded. He missed it but also was glad for the dulling temptation to leave. His clan is all he has and he wouldn't give it up for anything. A strong want to help his clan filled his mind. Therefore, he began a herbal garden, growing plants for the clan and for Vallei to use in healing remedies. |
