Born a fire clan mage she was groomed with all the other mage girls to become a future handmaiden to the Goddess of the Volcano. The handmaiden then serves the Goddess for a year, until her soul is fully consumed in service. The Goddess then requires a new handmaiden to keep her quiet and satisfied. Such had it been for centuries and generations in their clan territory in the Molten Scar.

When Serafine's turn came, she went gladly. It was an honour to serve the Goddess and clan. Her name would be recorded for generations to come and she would be honoured greatly for her sacrifice.

However, none could predict how catastrophic she'd be as a sacrifice. For when she plunged from the lip of the volcano and into the molten flow below, she did not die. Her mortal body was not consumed as it should have been and her spirit freed for the Goddess to claim. Instead, she possessed a rare ability. The energy around herself was simply siphoned inside and expelled at great force when it became too much. There was too much of the fire element in her.

The volcano grew restless with her constant explosions. The Goddess grew angry, feeling betrayed by this clan for giving her such a sacrifice. One that seemingly sent to destroy her from within and eruption after eruption was slowly bleeding her of all her energy

Serafine grew desperate as she felt her Goddess dying. She wanted with all her soul to serve and wished to become one with her Goddess as was promised. With the final eruption that should have claimed the Goddess's life, instead Serafine caught that energy, instead of her joining the Goddess, she brought the Goddess into herself, and when the Goddess proved too much to hold she shaped that explosion, casting the Goddess into physical form.

The two are now forever bonded. The Goddess, much diminished and her faithful handmaiden. Serafine has vowed to see her Goddess brought to her former glory. To that end they have decided to stay a while with Aion and Thesan. Perhaps they will be able to find a way through Thesan's Sight. In return she provides her services as both a trained servant and powerful fire mage in whatever capacity she finds.

To the others she comes across as very meek and quiet, despite the occasional eruptions that she must undergo to release built up energy. She seems rather embarrassed by them and a guilty air hangs around her. For she blames herself entirely for her clans death and her Goddess's condition.

Notable Relations


29837759p.png Pele, the Volcano Goddess, who is actually just a powerful spirit the tribe worshiped. Any kindness or benevolence this 'Goddess' had before being bound was burned away in the fires of her rage at her current condition. She treats Serafine as a slave at best. Often lower than even that. Really playing on the guilt the woman feels.
