Z A A H I R

A dragon of considerable wealth and power, Zaahir is infamous in the lair due to his lust for power. He has no qualms with letting others know his opinion, and one such opinion he is often heard muttering is that he feels he should replace Shenkai as the den ruler. By his own reckoning, Zaahir considers himself of better breeding, higher standards and clearly closer to Imperial perfection than Shenkai could ever hope to be - and this attitude has won him overall little favour with anybody.

His vanity is such that Zaahir does not overly care for those he shares the lair with. He enjoys the company of what few friends he has, and he does genuinely seem to have some love for his mate Asita, but his love of self outweighs everything else and that much is often plain to see.

Zaahir came to the lair from another Light flight, and to this day nobody can decide if he opted to leave himself or whether he was banished from wherever he came from. While very few can deny his physical beauty and elegance, his attitude is anything but. Decorated in only the finest jewels and silks that can be bought, Zaahir's extravagance it matched only by his ego.

The dragon won't lift so much as a claw to pitch in with work, not wanting to dirty his scales nor ruin any of his adornments. Zaahir has even gone so far as to say just as much quite publicly, and he won't hesitate to shoot down other dragons asking after his help. According to Zaahir, all of his clutchmates were Bogsneaks, leaving him the only Imperial. This likely helped to form his inflated sense of self, although Zaahir is still in loose contact with one of his clutchmates and enjoys his company well enough. While the Imperial is still young and has a lot of growing to do, he never seems to run out of jewellery even as he steadily increases in size. His golden scales seem to get increasingly glittery with each season, too, and Zaahir takes a lot of time preening himself.

While calling himself an enemy of Shenkai is something not even Zaahir is stupid enough to do, the young Imperial has made it very well known that he intends to one day - somehow - replace Shenkai as the leader. Of all the Imperials in the den, Zaahir considers himself to be the most regal and of the best breeding, thus leaving him with the impression he should be the one to lead the den. He has no care for the fact Shenkai is the son of the previous lair leader and knows the lay of the land better than any other dragon aside from Audiemus; his opinion has earned him more enemies than friends.

His mate Asita he genuinely cares for, although sometimes he speaks of her a bit like she's more of an object than of a mate. He does fawn over her well enough, however, and often showers her in gifts of glitter or gold, which she appreciates. Zaahir has also befriended Iestyn, turning the cursed Imperial away from his father's guidance in the process and only making a greater enemy for himself in Errenkai. Erren frankly scares Zaahir a little, if only because the older Imperial's power is unchallenged throughout the lair and he has no idea whether he could win or not should it ever come to a fight.

Anything dirty is a thing that Zaahir doesn't like, which means he avoids Reve and Lani at all costs and he also views Sinderyn with disdain. Asynthius is a dragon Zaahir often works with and the two get along moderately well, given that Asynthius is as focused on money and gold as Zaahir can sometimes be. However, a proper friendship with the fellow economist has been impossible to achieve, and although he will never publicly admit it, in private Zaahir sometimes feels lonely and outcast as a result.
