One of the resident performers and troublemakers in the clan, Vaughn was born in the Light and quickly adopted by the Shadow -- he keeps his eyes covered to avoid the judgment of his illuminated brethren. He makes his living performing sleight of hand tricks and captivating audiences with his whimsical charm and lilting cadence. His clanmates know from experience not to trust him as far as they can kick him, as he's likely to make off with your money even if you never looked away for a second. He's just really good at escaping tight situations when the need arises -- he seems to slip through the claws of whoever has him cornered.
That being said, when he isn't being a pocket-picking pain in the butt, Vaughn is elusive, mischievous, and always ready for a good puzzle, board game, or simple battle of wits. He can often be seen with Mestra, who finds him absolutely fascinating and always tries to figure out his card tricks, and he also likes to banter with or put on little shows for Ashan, as he seems to take especial delight in exciting and delighting her. Although there have been rumors of romantic affection between the two of them, Vaughn deliberately likes to keep folks in the dark about things like that, and Ashan, in her usual fashion, simply never gives a straight answer. And anyway, it's much more obvious that Vaughn has a thing going on with Absolem.
Vaughn also takes a lot of delight when someone like Ichabod comes shadowing him, trying to make sure he's behaving -- because of course he isn't, he never is, and he enjoys pushing that line as much as he can just to be annoying.
