“Why have you done this to me?” The young Shaton whispered to the sky. The chains around her ankles hung almost as heavy as the weight of fear in her mind. Shaton had been created by the Shadowbinder and therefore had no parents to call family. The only other dragons she knew were the ones that captured her as a hatchling. She did not know why they kept her locked away; though, she suspected it was because of her ancestry, or lack thereof. She talked to her creator every night, but the only thing she has ever gotten in return is silence. Shaton began to doubt that the Shadowbinder cared for her. For who would subject a loved one to this kind of life? After the first month or so, Shaton stopped the futile attempts at communicating. She stopped weeping in the midst of the night. She became closed off and cold. No longer did she cower away from her capturers. Soon, it was them who began to cower away from her. Shaton had quickly learned to harness her magic and use it against those who had kept her in chains. In a matter of seconds, Shaton’s dark magic had destroyed the structure that she had lived in her entire life, which also resulted in the destruction of those around her. The chains that had once been used to lock her away, now fell at her feet. Shaton took her first steps into the outside world since she had been a hatchling. Her power radiated around her and the surrounding environment. Shaton’s heart had darkened and seeped with hate. She no longer looked up to the sky with a sense of yearning pride, but instead she looked to the ground with eyes that burned with disappointment and hatred. As Shaton walked into dark forest, she was oblivious to the entity standing behind her, begging her to open her heart once more. ྿ Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
