Biography
When Moore first came to this clan, they were a renown orator. Mixie - and her gestalt - never took much stock in words and riddles, but Moore delighted in them. Negotiating a good dragon-sale at the auction houses, dictating letters to be sent back and forth between other lairs to get lower prices on items this clan needed, and simple social calls were all within her repertoire.
All this wheeling and dealing about lead to Moore building up a little thrift shop of her very own, calling it "Less is Moore!" Things she could snap up at low costs (the less) often ended up being sold or bartered later (the more) - and she always kept an eye out for things she knew her clanmates wanted. In turn, they'd bring her their gently used (or found) items for use in her sales.
Moore's den was an awful lot like her shopfront - cluttered, with knicknacks and apparel scattered about. The main difference between the two would be the colours. You see, Moore has synthesia - and a rather strong fondness for the feel of bright, rich colours that match up with her favorite words. The visual riot in her den is comforting and warm, and she took to wearing things about to bring a little bit of that comfort with her out into the world.
Normally synesthesia isn't a problem, for the slow rate at which it eats your ability to communicate doesn't reach a detrimental status. Dragons, however, live for an awfully long time. For a dragon as old as Moore, well....words are chosen for their bright and saturated colors, rather than their meanings. Too much sound can lead to a variable rainbow barrage, triggering a sensory overload. While numbers remain the same, and a lot of bartering can be indicated with gestures, it's difficult to be a shopkeeper with a communicative disability.
Moore manages her own way just fine, though. She certainly understands the world around her, and if a dragon spends some time, they can learn what her meanings are to each word. A little bit of patience goes a long way, and she remains a valued member of the clan.
Her disability definitely doesn't get between her and her girlfriend, Adelaide. The ridgeback's metalloy scales and large wings provide an excellent safe space during Moore's meltdowns, and the shimmering colours seem just right to Moore's senses. In turn, Moore's more than tolerant when Adelaide is late to their dates because she had to adjust her plants one last time before closing up the den, or when Adelaide has to scrub under her claws three times for luck before settling down in their shared nest. They make it work, between the two of them.
