Charyne

It was dark and cold in the far reaches of space where Charyne once lived, scavenging meat off the remains of dead planets. However, Charyne was paranoid with the fear of being watched.

On one tragic day, after scavenging all she could off a long-dead world, she found herself falling backwards, faster and faster, her wings growing heavy as she tried to fly away. Soon she was face to face with a black hole. Knowing she couldn't escape, she closed her eyes and accepted her fate, willing to die alone and unloved.

Suddenly, a clawed hand reached out to her. Weak from the increasing gravity, Charyne grabbed it. When she finally had the strength to open her eyes, Charyne found herself in the midst of a dark forest filled with beautiful glowing mushrooms that emitted a soft, eerie glow. She knew that she was on a planet, but where, and who was this beautiful mirror dragon who had saved her?

"I am BlackPearl, I saw you struggling and couldn't help but rescue you. I don't usually do this, but you seem different than the other dragons."

"Do you have any food?" Charyne asked. She was very hungry and loved to eat.

"Yes," said BlackPearl, giving her fish that was still wiggling between her claws.

Although she was a seafood eater as well as a meat eater, Charyne was disgusted by the idea of eating something that was just moving.

"Do you have anything that was laying around for a while?" Charyne asked.

"There's the discarded pile over there," BlackPearl responded, pointing to a fly-infested pile with mushrooms growing on it. No longer feeling weak, Charyne dived into it, much to the horror of BlackPearl and her dragons. Charyne was quite happy though, devouring one rotting corpse after the other.

"I'll take you to the Flamecaller," BlackPearl said.

"Why?" Charyne wondered. "Here's fine."

"You're a fire dragon," BlackPearl explained. "I can tell, not only because of your red eyes, but because only a fire dragon would do this kind of stuff."

"What stuff," Charyne retorted, rolling around in the discard pile, with a fungus covered microdeer between her lips. BlackPearl gave her a warning look, telling Charyne to come with her to the fire flight, where she would earn the respect of the Flamecaller and start her own lair in the volcanic world of the Fire Flight.
