Garcia

Garcia's first memory was that of a dark, gloomy lair, with noises of a storm gathering in the distance. Beneath her were cold, hard eggshells, and when she lifted her eyes-
She saw them.
Two colossal, scaly things sat in the darkness. Before them sat a huge tub of reddish gruel. They were eating it.
On the tub, it was written in large, bloody letters: GARCIA.
The little hatchling blinked. Just then, one of them noticed her.
"Honey!" he said. "Look, it hatched!"
"It?" said the other, in a voice rather annoyed. "Didn't I tell you to think of a name days ago?"
"Well yes, of course I have..."
Like every all-too-forgetful dad, he looked around frantically for an answer to appease his mate. Then his glance fell on the tub in front of him.
"GARCIA! We'll call her Garcia - by the way, honey, this tub is out."
"You shouldn't eat so fast."
Complaining, the mom stood up and took the empty container. Drops of dark crimson fluid dripped down from its side, leaving a trail of bloody stains on the floor. She came towards the nest, her eyes fixed on Garcia.
The little hatchling screamed.
She screamed at the top of her newborn lungs. With as much strength as her nascent body could muster, she stumbled away from the approaching monster and flung herself out of the sole window of the towering lair. The ever-howling tempest caught her frail wings, and bore her far, far away.
