Biography

Former clansman wrote:
I've never seen him not covered in blood.... some say that's how his wings got their color, that the runes stand for war and blood. They call him Bloodbone--an apt description, I think.

Gorthrax is a warrior who grew up in an area of chaos and battle. He is not afraid of getting hurt, and will charge head first into any battle. His aggressiveness got him exiled from his nesting clan, and word of his battle prowess and his appearance made other clans keep him at a distance.

He spent a long time wandering alone, before wandering into the Tangled Woods. Gorthrax ended up running into Brionne, who was making her trek from the Red Wood to the Mauvoss Dens when some rogue dragons tried to jump her. Gorthrax easily fended them off, goring into them as he lunged. Brionne brought him to the Mauvoss Dens to care for his wounds in repayment.

At first, the clan was uneasy about Gorthrax, especially given the nature of his introduction. Some of the more battle-centric dragons came to make conversation and exchange tales of battles, which led to some sparring. Spurring the fire of these fighting spirits, Gorthrax ended up creating a den for the fighters, and unintentionally becoming a Den leader.

Brionne wrote:
I've never seen a dragon laugh so hard at a hatchling sneezing like an engine. He takes to all the hatchlings quite well, despite his appearance. I would question the rumors, if I hadn't seen him in the midst of battle.

His position in Mauvoss was solidified when some hatchlings wandered away from their nest too early, and they were found being tended to and playing with Gorthrax, showing a gentle nature no one had seen from the fight-centric Ridgeback. He became known as a defender, and young dragons often wander to the Sovereign Claw Den to hear his stories.
