Xemaat was hired onto Aster Company after the long-time manager, Varinos, decided to leave with his mate. The events that followed afterward are what the dragons of the clan are beginning to call 'The Reformation.'
Frankly, Xemaat was stunned that a clan could be... well, a company. The clan functions almost entirely apart from social constructs, and at first, Xemaat found issue with that... until he began to see the clan's potential.
Xemaat fine-tuned the clan to peak efficiency, and in the process, began laying grounds for a new clan-- a clan thriving from the benefits of scientific research, not a company. Xemaat doesn't seem to realize that Aster Company can be both.
Xemaat overthrew the clan's leadership and promoted the company's finest manager-- Cwen-- to the title of Empress. He wasn't interested in titles of his own-- only power. As advisor, he had more freedom than Cwen, but equal influence.
And then came the fall. No one is quite sure how Cwen was overthrown-- most blame the independence of the Chemistry department-- but it is Xemaat who first sowed the seeds of dissent, who first whispered into Cwen's ear and drove her to madness.
Xemaat has noticed the growing section of astronomers and planetary scientists as well... There's something off about them, he knows it. Xemaat is biding his time.
