Leuna
Sorceress of the Sun By Adventure. Some say that it was blessed. Others, cursed. Yet no one could deny: the lone egg that lay among the soft dirt of the ruins was special. It's soft glow radiated power, the shell practically thrumming under the hatchling's magic. This little one was destined for great things. Yet her parents feared. Feared for their lives and the life of their clan, should someone so powerful yet so inexperienced come to be. In agreement, they bound the egg's power, coiling it up so tightly that it could never be accessed. The egg's light faded. And when the hatchling was born, her hide was as dull as her egg. The only hint that something was amiss was her eyes - two little suns, bright as the real thing. Leuna learned to blend in as she grew. Don't make eye contact, don't act out of the normal. She faded into the background, another hatchling among dozens. Yet the magic inside her grew - grew and grew until it was too much to be stopped. And then it let out. The suppressed magic exploded in a burst of light. It was over before anyone could react - and powerful enough that there was no one left to react afterwards. Only Leuna, at the epicenter of the magical blast, remained unharmed. Her home was devastated, wiped almost completely off the map. Of the dragons nearby, not a trace remained. And the not-quite-hatchling was alone. In the later days, she could never remember how long she traveled alone. It felt like an eternity of shying away from other dragons, hiding her brilliantly glowing eyes and shunning her power. The young pearlcatcher lived in fear of every letting it out again. And then? And then came Apollo. The coatl looked like the sun in dragon form; feathers so bright she had to squint, a warm aura that stood out, even against the oppressive heat of the Ashfall Waste. He didn't shy away from Leuna's obvious power. No, he did the opposite. He stayed near her, a peaceful presence, and he taught. Many things, but magic most of all. Heat spells and light spells, spells of growth and spells of drought. He took the magic within her and harnessed it into the power of a sorceress. A sorceress of the Sun. Apollo's clan welcomed the young mage with open wings. Now in control of her power, Leuna learned how to be young again. Her playful, carefree spirit is the most well-known in the clan - as is her advice. Though wise beyond her years, the young pearlcatcher never loses touch with her hatchling side. |
