Biography

Sunshower
The Founder
"The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep."

Nature Runestone

Abandoned by an uncaring mother, Sunshower was left amidst the sinister creatures that live in the Shrieking Wilds. Well, some of them surely weren't dangerous, but still they intimidated the young hatchling that didn't even see the sun shining yet. Being completely alone since a young age, he observed and learned from the beasts, having only them for company; watching life and death unfold in an unfair, endless loop, he soon learned to hate to live this way: just surviving, without any other motive. He wanted to live in a fair, just place, where hatchlings didn't have to fight to survive, but just enjoy their lives until they found their own path to thrive.

The young Imperial soon decided to leave the jungle, even if it was the only place he ever knew. He was surprised when he first found other dragons, even though they were often different from him. Unaware that living in the wilderness for so long had warped his communication skills, any attempt of contact with other drakes was received with laughter and unwelcoming gazes. Feeling hurt and depressed, he journeyed for many weeks before settling in the outskirts of a Shadow Clan that sometimes took pity of him and invited Sunshower into some festivities and jokes, even though he didn't understand the customs. It was in this unlikely place he met Grace, a beautiful Light dragoness.

She was like the brilliant sun that blinded his eyes when he looked directly at her. Like her own name, she always acted with an ethereal grace never seen by his eyes before. Slowly, she helped Sunshower learn how to act correctly around the others, and his love for her just grew bigger and bigger.

But things weren't doing great in that particular Shadow Clan. The members were restless, and relationships were turning sour. The group was beggining to split apart, and it worried Sunshower: it wasn't the family he dreamed on when he was a lonely hatchling. The couple feared violence was soon to follow, and quickly fled with some others, going to where Grace was born: the Sunbeam Ruins. The two found a big and unnabited patch of land known as the Ellora Ruins, a famous haunted place in the immediate neighborhood. There they decided to create their own family, which quickly grew into a good Clan with many valuable members.

For the first time in his life, Sunshower was completely happy. He could watch his own hatchlings growing up in peace, playing with each other and discovering the world at their own pace. The Clan was quickly growing, and many were interested in the famous and elusive Spodumene Catacombs once the threat of a false demon was over. But at the same time, he noticed something was wrong with Grace. She was always worried and distant, and no longer responded to his caresses and affections. After some distressing weeks, she finally abandoned him and their three newly hatched younglings so she could serve the Lightweaver, despite his desesperate pleas.

He became distant and withdrawn after the tragedy, a mere shadow of the fierce but benevolent soul he once was. Sunshower was rarely seen outside the Tower he normally slept in, and no longer cared about the problems of the other members of the Clan. He wasn't fit to be the Leader of the Ellora Clan anymore, and every dragon knew that.

He simply couldn't understand why she could abandon him that way. Heart-broken, he took the hatchlings to the Greenmist Woods and trained the three himself every day, so they could be sent after her, hoping the sight of their grown hatchies would bring her back. But at the end, he would not let go of the smallest of the three, a girl that reminded him so much of his loved one that he felt his soul weep everytime he looked at her. He sent the strongest to serve the forces of Light, but kept little his little flower to himself, whom he named Grace, just like the light of his life had once been called.

By the time little Grace was finally an adult, nobody trusted Sunshower anymore. His sickly looking appearance was more fit to a Plague dragon than a Nature one, and the only two he was seen interacting with was his daughter and his familiar. He didn't react when his distant attitude caused many fights and uprisings in search of a new leader. In fact, he didn't even notice(or care, as some older dragons whisper and gossip behind his back) when the blacksmith's daughter slowly took over the reins of the Clan, trying to stop a revolt that would potentially cause incountable deaths.

He never truly healed. His tattered soul just lived on to protect his daughter and wait for his dear Grace to come back. He was often seen in the Greenmist Woods, killing any creature that crosses his path. And then when his dear Grace, his last link to the love of his life, decided to leave, he snapped. He now wanders for all of Sornieth, looking for a way to get his Grace(which? both? neither?) back.

At request, he'll train any dragon strong enough to survive his harsh means, and the newly-trained fighter will be sent to find Grace. Most dragons just want to serve the their deity as a good fighter, but they don't tell the miserable Imperial that. He's... broken, and nobody knows how to fix him.
