Nyroc and the rest of his clutch was laid in shadow territory, to parents unlike most dragons are blessed with. Nyroc knew nothing of his parents besides what was told to him. Not true dragons, they said. No soul left, they said. Who knows if he will be able to grow, they said. The shade still lives inside him. It had seeped in from the shell that had protected him for his first week of life, encased in an egg.

Nyroc did grow, however. But he grew silently. Nyroc didn't utter a single word until after he was mature, and even then he remained strangely quiet, rarely speaking. When he did speak it was usually in prophecies, told in ways that didn't always make sense. For one thing, Nyroc had a habit of making up words to describe things, like the word "pone" which he claimed meant a great stack of bones. Nyroc never explained what he said unless pressed, as he often automatically assumed that everyone just 'knew' what he meant, sometimes even if he hadn't said it out loud. He has no concept of different point of views.

Despite his eccentricities, strange robotic movement, and occasional violent outbursts of frustration, Nyroc is still considered a well loved member of this clan. They took him in as a barely born dracling, and here would always be his home. Nyroc's closest friend is Nightvisions, who he played with and spent a lot of time with as a hatchling, as they were the only two hatchlings in the clan when they were very young. Nyroc carries a small pouch with his most important items in it everywhere; his favorite bone he's ever found and a kind letter he received when he was a hatchling from the clan he was born in.
