_____"Eris, never be afraid to stand up for what you think is right. Never be afraid to stand up for yourself. And most of all, never be afraid to fight." _____The wise words of her clan leader echoed in her mind as the deep red Bogsneak made her way across the Scarred Wasteland. Her belly reflected the harsh sunlight bearing down on the dragon as her heavy footsteps echoed through the still air. The thick smell of rot and contagion nearly suffocated her as it had done for most of her life. That's why she wanted out. Most of her clanmates couldn't understand. They simply refused to, and demanded to the clan leader to let her go. Unwilling to cause a riot, the leader agreed. They had rather liked Eris, but it was the only option. Of course Eris understood, and as she parted ways with her clan she didn't look back. _____During her journey, she met many dragons, all with the same confusion and hostility her former clan held. She had to fight her way out of several clans who tried to keep her in. She fought multiple battles. She fought physical ones and mental ones, each taking its toll on her body and mind. Eris was losing hope. With each step she took she felt the weight of every plague dragon's eyes, filled with disappointment and loathing. She carried it all with her on her journey, the weight becoming heavier and heavier. _____Finally, Eris reached the edge of the Starfall Isles. The sharp, salty tang of the sea was a welcome scent to her nose and Eris breathed deeply, fresh air filling her lungs for the first time. This was her home, she knew it. She soon settled down into a boisterous clan who accepted her happily and was now living the life she could never have had in the Scarred Wastelands. |
