Tiakken is the clan scribe and Ausha and Dak’s right hand dragon of sorts. He is responsible for documenting the day’s activities such as, trade reports, treaties, alliances, stock reports, and so on. It’s a lot of paperwork and most wouldn’t enjoy the tedious kind of tasks he must complete on a daily basis, but it keeps him busy and well, he’s fine with that.
- Hatchling Biography -
Tiakken was adopted as a hatchling by a royal family in the Starfall Isles, who the mother was believed to be barren. Found on the edges of the Scarred Wasteland, the imperial couple swore to love him and care for him no matter his species or element. And they did. At first.
- Adolescent Biography -
As Tiakken grew, his parents groomed him to be the next king, having him take private lessons in every subject from all the best teachers they could find. His classes were grueling, but he was determined to become king, eager for the power that came with the title, so he forged on, wishing to prove himself. But then his parents, by some miracle, had a biological child and everything was ripped from him in the blink of an eye. Now that his parents had a biological heir, Tiakken would not inherit the throne, but instead be his brother's advisor when he became king.
Tiakken was furious. What made it worse is that it became obvious that his parents preferred his sibling more and, eventually, his mother grew to treat Tiakken cruelly.
While Tiakken could not bring himself to hate his mother, the mutual hatred between he and his brother grew everyday. His little brother, Torikk, who was a cruel drake, couldn't stand being cast in some peasant's shadow, so he hatched a plan. With his mother backing him, he killed his father and placed the blame on Tiakken.
When Tiakken insisted it hadn't been he who killed his father, the kingdom shouted in anger, saying that he had always hated his father for favoring his youngest son. He tried to reason with them, told them all the reasons why his father’s death wouldn’t have benefitted him, but his brother’s cunning kept the crowds rallied against him. When it got to the point that the kingdom wanted him executed for his supposed crimes, Tiakken realized that his mother and brother had probably been planning this for a long time. They wanted him gone, out of the picture, dead.
So he faked his death and ran.
- Adult Biography -
Tiakken learned some hard lessons about himself while on the run. After many disastrous and humiliating encounters, he decided that he could not continue as he was. Abandoning his pride, hate, and cowardice, he became a mysterious, do gooder, who would vanish before he could be thanked. For years, he wandered from town to town, helping those he could, in hopes of making up for his past.Which is how he came across Pleo, who took one look at his haggard appearance and insisted that he come back with her to her small clan. He was taken in for as long as he wished and while he hadn’t intended to stay for long, they were just so kind. He asked if they wouldn’t mind sheltering him a little longer, the constant traveling and running had begun to wear on him, and Ausha simply beamed at him, telling him he was welcome to stay as long as he’d like and was assigned the role of scribe.
As the clan’s scribe, Tiakken tries to have things running as smoothly as possible so Ausha and Dak don't have to worry about the little things so much and can focus on the bigger things. Other than his own work, Tiakken and Arbol often collaborate with each other on numbers, money and vault logs to make sure everything lines up and nothing has been stolen. He mentors Impa in the ways of magic, seeing as the little witch has trouble with certain spells and helps Aneurin put books back in their proper places. Aneurin doesn’t really need the help but he doesn't mind honestly. Besides, he’s in there a lot anyway doing some personal research, looking up information on anything to do with the earth flight's deity, powers, curses, anything to help him understand his current condition, that was due to an...incident.
It doesn't hurt and nothing strange has happened that he's aware of, but still, the strange affliction worries him. So he looks for answers when he can, in an attempt to keep himself occupied. Keeping himself busy is a way to keep his mind from wandering to darker places he'd rather his thoughts didn't go.
And while he can mostly avoid them when he is awake, when he is asleep, it is a completely different matter.
So sometimes he just doesn't sleep.
It doesn't really help.
To the clan, Tiakken is a godsend and while they all love and admire him for the dragon he is now, the dragon he used to be still haunts him and with each passing day, he loathes himself a little more.
- Additional Notes -
➤ Tiakken carries the clan's ledger, which has all the financial details, trade logs and other important information recorded within. If it's not on his person, then it's locked away in a special safe that only he, Ausha and Dak know the location of.
➤ On the rare occasion that Tiakken has some free time, it is mostly spent with Yin, if the skydancer is in the lair. If not, then he takes long walks in hopes of clearing his head.
