Nemesis
He who speaks in poison words

Theme Song: Mists of Egypt by Derek & Brandon Fiechter

"Oh, I understand completely. You've been treated unfairly, haven't you? Come, let me tell you a secret."
--
Despite his unlucky name, the golden pearlcatcher was never suspected of anything but the purest of intentions. He was kind, he was understanding, he made one want to agree with him. He spoke to the hearts of those stricken by pain, those dissatisfied with the current state of their lives, those unable to find purpose.

So he gave them a purpose - to serve him faithfully, mindlessly, eternally. It was their own choice, or at least they thought it was. But he had ways of pushing them in the direction he wanted; his honeyed words and shimmering radiance served him well.

The thing about corruption is that it can come from anywhere. One may think one knows the depths of someone's soul, yet one can never say what hides within.

Sometimes corruption hides in the shadows, waiting like a predator to strike down the unsuspecting.

Sometimes it is a chill deep within one's heart, like the first whisper of winter.

Sometimes it creeps along the ground like a plague, its victims unaware until they have fallen under its spell.

But the strongest corruption shines brightly like the midsummer sun, the warm rays turning harsh and blazing a deathly trail through all in its path. As purity and goodness reside in the light, so do the most vile recesses of a dragon's heart; for why would one look where the sun shines brightest?
