Biography
T H E I A
Traveling Mercenary
Theia was hatched into a wealthy family. It wasn’t her biological family. She had been found by them as an egg and they had lovingly raised her. She was happy, but it didn’t last her very long. When she was young, her life completely changed when her family was robbed and killed on the road. With nobody to left to help her, Theia rushed to the populated area of the trading post. However, the dragons there ignored the cries of the young nocturne. Before she got a chance to even think of what to do, she noticed a young skydancer on the ground. When she approached, she realized he was sick, and possibly even younger than her. He seemed to hear her approach as his eyes opened when she neared. His broken voice asked for help just as she asked if he was okay. She did her best to lug the weak dragon to a nearby waterhole, where he drank the water before flopping down against her. When she questioned him on why he was all alone, he explained he’d been alone since childhood and learned to make a living on his own. Theia, in turn, told him about her family, something which quickly resulted in her breaking down in tears. The sick sky dancer boy gently comforted her, and decided there that he’d repay her kindness by taking care of her, and teaching her to survive. He finally introduced himself as Bastion. Though he was well experienced in his lifestyle, Bastion was still very sick, and in the beginning a Theia was very bad at surviving on her own. As such, the pair were desperate to find somewhere to rest until Bastion was healthy again. They got lucky while traveling through light. As they were walking, they came upon a two pearlcatchers, a ridgeback, and a sky dancer. The ridgeback and sky dancer were dressed like pirates, but were conversing with one of the pearlcatchers, this one being young while the other was still a hatchling. Theia, desperate for help at this point, rushed up while begging for aid. Much to Theia’s surprise, the pearlcatcher, who introduced herself as Meriel, graciously offered to help in anyway, and even brought the pair back to where she had been living, allowing them to get much needed rest. The time spent with Meriel in what they realized was her clan was very precious to the pair, as Bastion got a chance to heal as well as teach Theia in a relaxed environment. It’s here that their relationship really grew, and they also grew attached to the clan itself. They stayed there for much longer than expected. They went out during the daytime, offering their services as sellswords, and came back in the evening bringing boons to their newfound friends. Theia realized, however, if they were willing to leave the territory they made for themselves, they might get greater rewards, and Bastion found himself agreeing. After that the two branded themselves as mercenaries and travelled across sornieth offering their wears. Whenever they needed a break though, they quickly returned back to their home with Meriel. They also had another spot to rest, as Meriel’s brother had eventually made his way to an ice clan where he welcomed them as well. During their travels, their strong relationship finally blossomed into romance, and Theia realized she would never want anyone else. When it came to hatchlings, the couple agreed to care for those that stayed with them, but ultimately they should be able to live their lives freely, and be prepared for wherever the road takes them. Theia desperately didn’t want them to be left in the world without a clue of what to do like she was, and Bastion agreed. Since then, they always try to settle with a clan before they have a nest, even if it’s not one they’re comfortable with. Ironically, they often have nests in the ice territory with Meriel’s brother’s clan before they travel to light to show Meriel their new hatchlings. The hatchlings tend to stay with Meriel’s clan for their childhood until they’re ready to embark on their own journey. |
