Biography

Guardsman -- Nature

Greth is the baddest dragon out there, his bad temper makes him a strong fighter. He is very protect of his mate Caste.

Grandson of Firsts: WinterDeath & Emilia through his Father, Dario.

When his mate, Caste, was called to the service of the Shadowbinder, Greth was left to wander on his own. He got into many battles, but all without purpose and he was sad and even more bad tempered than usual.

Thaedal and Tania were in need of a battle partner and they saw his temper as a battlefield asset and befriended him -- although it wasn't easy! Talmaedia sensed that a heart of gold beat under that unpleasent demeanor and so Greth became a member of the clan.

Even after he was accepted into the Clan, Greth's pessimistic nature had him continuing to wear his Journeyman's satchels - prepared to leave at any moment. Until that day -- that glorious day-- when Talmaedia awarded him a Druidic Sash, commemorating his birth flight and making him a member of the Clan's Guard. He couldn't remember ever feeling so proud before and finally, maybe, just a little bit -- happy. Of course, only those who knew him well would see that!

Greth was stricken with the crystal sickness, sometimes called the crystal fever. He expected to be exiled from the Clan, sent away as swftly as possible so as not to infect any others with the disease. He knew that was how many clans handled illness of a contagious nature. But Talmaedia, along with Opal, the clan's skilled healer, cared for him as they had for others with the fever.

Sometimes the fever took too much of a dragon's strength in the early phase if proper care wasn't available it would leave the sufferer weak and debilitated ever after. But treated appropriately, the recovery from the fever caused strengthening of a dragon's hide or wings, or sometimes both. The shining crystals were hard as diamonds and nearly as bright in the sunlight.

When Greth recovered enough to venture outside, the shine from his own wings nearly blinded him when he stretched them out. Gone was the drab dirty beige color and in its place, glorious shining crystals. Greth, who had always kept himself to himself, in the background, blending in, was mortified by the showyness of his wings. Even when Talmaedia declared he was a beauty and Opal declared him healed,Greth hardly knew what to do with himself, he felt like everyone was looking at him. It made him feel snarly and out of sorts. As soon as he was able he headed to the Coliseum to work his strength back. On the way a beautiful Mirror girl, Atria fell into step beside him.
"What!?" Greth growled as she kept looking at him.
"Our wings," she said. "They're nearly the same color. They look good together."
'Huh,' he thought.
How about that?

Some while later, Geth thought about the pretty Mirror girl and decided to go and talk with her again. He quickly discovered that she was tending a nest with another Mirror. Greth was angry about this - stomping around and swearing until Tania finally got him to tell her what the problem was.
Tania told him not to worry about it -- the Mirrors hardly ever mated for life and usually it was an instinctual matter of increasing their swarm numbers rather than affection that had them tending nests together. She advised him to wait a bit and see what develped. And she cautioned him that he - having once mated with Saliana, one of the unofficial leaders of the Mirror Swarm, he really ought to run a possible dalliance by her first.

The affair with Atria, the pretty Mirror, blazed hot and then was over when Atria returned to the Swarm. Greth, whose pride stung, considered resuming his travels, but he really didn't want to leave Talmaedia's Clan. Even as he thought this, he saw Talmaedia coming towards him with another Tundra female.
"Greth," Talmaedia said. "This is Mist."
Greth was a dragon of few words, but Mist had him beat. She would go days sometimes without speaking. Greth was more at peace hanging around with Mist than he had ever been in his life. Their silences were companionable. When they did speak, usually late into the evening when most dragons had settled down for the night, they shared a great deal in common. Both travelers, both travelling from tragedy to a new start, both finding solace and companionship in Talmaedia's welcome. Both shed their journeymen's satchels and blossomed, although outwardly, Greth still remained a tad grumpy - nothing like his earlier bad tempered days - he was still an asset in the Coliseum though!

Sometime later, Greth heard that Atria had gone to serve the Tidelord and he hoped that she would find as much happiness in her service as he had found with Mist.

Greth brought the Fathomsearch Ambassador he had captured during the battle to Chancellor Cardonis, as he had been instructed. "Good. Another bargaining chip." Cardonis said. "Put him in the tank with the 'Oracle.'
