Biography

Toxic Crawlers - An official Plague subspecies!
Google document can be viewed here.
The origin of the Toxic Crawlers has been heavily speculated over time. Some researchers believed that these creatures spawned from the Wyrmwound in some unknown freak accident. Others believed it was some accident involving Baldwin's cauldron, given the results that we've seen before, with it's ability to change physical looks and behavior to create an entire new breed. Some even went as far as to suggest that these creatures were actually Nature dragons, infected by some sort of Plague-born disease which caused these dragons to mutate and survive the harsh Plague lands.
Features
After many years of researchers secretly studying the Toxic Crawlers from afar and testing samples, they were able to determine some features. These creatures are known to leave behind a small film of poisonous substances if they stand in a spot for an extended period of time. Upon further investigation, it is shown that they use this poisonous substance in many ways. The film is very clear/translucent, and can be hanged up, or "spun," almost like a web, and attached to trees to be used as a means of capture or escape. This film is also known to appear on the main section of the body, seemingly causing the colors to shift and distort. It is unknown if this is the true body color of the creature, or if it is the poisonous film covering the body is causing such a color distortion. This coating is known to get thicker in the event the Toxic Crawler needs to defend itself. These creatures can also spit up this poison, not as a means of attack (such as a fire blast) but as a means of covering its darker colored hands in poison. These scales in these dark areas, on the arms, legs, face, ears, tail, and neck, are known to be much stronger and thicker, more prone to resisting physical wounds and also have a better capability of "holding onto" poison. Their claws are rather sharp, and are known to deliver deep cuts under normal circumstances, and can even deliver fatal wounds when they are covered in the special poison.
Behavior
Toxic Crawlers have a wide range of behavioral patterns. All of them are recorded to use poison as a means of attack, defense, and escape. Some Toxic Crawlers are more secluded and defensive, which is rare, while most others of the species can be rather aggressive and protective. The females are the most aggressive and protective, with babies, respectively. The males vary between being being defensive and being aggressive. Researchers speculated that the adult behavior is instilled to them as a child, most likely inherited from their parents after watching their actions throughout their young years. The main defensive/aggressive behavior aside, Toxic Crawlers are rather tricky and playful creatures. They love to trick and mess with their prey mentally, but also love to play tricks on each other, which is their main means of entertainment.
Pack Temperament
Toxic Crawlers are not known to form packs all that well. The only packs that are really seen are family units, 2 parents with some children, varying in age. Even then, these family units normally separate after time due to disputes or even fights between the members, causing them to split, and even known to cause some fatalities, especially in power disputes. Given these circumstances, Toxic Crawlers are more of a solitary creature.
Habitat
Toxic Crawlers initially started out near the Wyrmwound and have been branching out since then. They're starting to hit the borders of other elemental regions.... It is unknown if they have the possibility of adapting to these new environments. In the Plague region, they are known to find abandoned lairs or caves(whether it be above ground or under ground) and cover them in the special poison to make any and all creatures think twice about entering ever again.
