Virika
—Not Pretty Doesn't Mean Unimportant—

Not enough folks care about the dense, humid marshes and swamps. Sure, there's dangerously deep pools one can fall into unexpectedly and more biting bugs than one can shake a stick at, but that doesn't mean such places are unimportant. As such Virika has deemed it her duty to care for the swamps. She's always had a soft spot for those things others shun after all. Virika spends her day squelching about the swamp doing a shocking variety of tasks; anything from damming an area of water that needs it to cultivating moss to helping unfortunate birds get out of the muck. Luckily for her, she has her own potent all-natural insect repellent to make sure she doesn't get bitten to death. A good bit of her time is collecting and brewing the necessary ingredients for this concoction. Virika always makes sure to have several jars on hand.

Virika knows the swamp like the back of her hand. Where others would get lost, she always knows exactly where she is. In an effort to help travelers, she has constructed signs at important places. Nonetheless it's not terribly unusual for her to come across someone needing guidance. Virika refuses to draw a map of the swamp. There are certain places she knows where some shouldn't cross or need extra protection for whatever reason. She doesn't want to encourage trouble by having a map on hand in case it fell into the wrong clutches.

• One of Virika's pride and joy of the swamp are the massive lilypads she helps to cultivate in one area. Some are sturdy enough they can even support Virika's weight for a short period of time.
• Most of the safe paths in the swamp were constructed by Virika. She has built simple wooden bridges over some of the most treacherous places. A few paths are intentionally circuitous in order to keep others away from the hidden areas.
• She wears a coil of vines constantly about her neck. Virika can use these vines to help get around or even defend herself if need be. While she can wield the vines normally, she often uses a bit of magic to help accomplish what she wants.
• She has a habit of talking to herself quite a bit. She likes to affect different accents too.
• Virika doesn't get chocolate often but when she does, she goes absolutely crazy over it. She tries to ration herself to make it last long but it always fails and is usually gone in minutes.
