Corsair
"May your anchor be tight, your cork be loose; your rum be spiced and your compass true." Like all Crystal Star Coatls, Corsair was brought into existence crash-landing on Sornieth in a form of a glassy crystalline meteorite. Unlike most Crystal Stars however, she happened to crash land near a band of infamous pirates. Before she took form, the pirates picked up her crystal hoping to sell it for profit. These plans changed drastically when the magic imbued crystal shifted into the shape of a young hatchling. The pirates took her in as one of their own. Corsair grew up with boat sails as her blankets and cutlasses as her toys. From a very young age, she was taught to fight and soon became an unparalleled fighter. Her earliest memories consisted of robbing the merchants that lived on the shores of Starwind Bay, and merchants soon learned to fear this tiny little hatchling swinging her wicked butter knife, because one: their morale code prevented them from hurting a child and two: she might've had a blunt weapon but she could sure hit hard in the most painful places. Corsair might've grown up as Sornieth's next greatest pirate if it weren't for an incident that occurred not long after her bounty broke the records. Aware of her rapid growth and the increased amount of pirate attacks, the merchants of Starwind Bay hired a few powerful mages to capture the nefarious pirates. It was during an encounter with those hired hands that Corsair's family was captured and sentenced to life in jail. Corsair was spared of the same fate due to her young age and was instead sent to a rehabilitation center, where she was taught reading, writing, and other such "sophisticated" arts. Corsair never did lose her love of fighting, which was why when she was of age, she bought a ship, hired a few other dragons, and went back to the sea her heart never left. |
Corsair's crew quickly became well-known around Starwind Bay. Corsair sold only the rarest, most exotic goods -- though she never quite revealed exactly where she got those goods, and she earned a fair amount of money bargaining with the dragons of the Starfall Isles. Her name spread, and soon crowds were flocking to the docks to welcome the arrival of her ship. Proud of her success, Corsair proceeded to reach another milestone -- that was, trading with another merchant instead of the common dragons. And so she arranged for herself to meet the captain of a crew of Wind dragons When she first met with Sabiya, Corsair was quite courteous and careful in her dealings, and the other dragon was the same. They were able to find some common ground and came to agreements on several different bargains. Corsair was delighted at how well the bargaining was going, and soon their conversation turned from the prices to their own respective crews and fame. Which proved to be a bit of a mistake. |

"Starwind Bay?" Sabiya asks. "Surely you mean Windstar Bay?" "Windstar Bay? Now heavens almighty, that can't be right!" Corsair insists. "It's Starwind Bay!" "You worm-ridden blaggard! It's Windstar Bay?" "Who're you calling a worm-ridden blaggard, you yellow bellied rapscallion?" Corsair demands. "To arms!" Harsh screeches split the air as swords are drawn, accompanied by the otherworldly pulsing of tomes being summoned. Corsair squares off against Sabiya, eyes flaring with anger. "I'm tellin' you, you've got it all wrong! It's Starwind Bay!" "In the name of the missing noodle, it's Windstar Bay!" "Starwind!" "Windstar!" Corsair yanks out her sword. "I'll cut you to pieces, you flea-bitt -- " BOOM! Corsair and Sabiya both topple to the ground as a cannon blast shakes the ship. Corsair whips her head up to see a cannonball flying, thankfully, over the dark waters. The short silence that ensues after the blast is quickly broken by a ferocious caterwaul from one of the merchants. Corsair lunges at Sabiya, but a second crash sends her flying into the deck instead. SPLAAAAASSHHH! Before Corsair's disbelieving eyes, a horrible thing rises out of the water, shaking slime and water everywhere. One swipe of its claws would've been enough to annihilate both crews. Sabiya and Corsair find themselves backing into each other as the monster glowers down at them. "Say, Sabiya," Corsair says, "I've got a proposal for you..." |
After the Battle of the Bay III, Corsair realised that more important than her pride and fame was the friendship between the flights of Wind and Arcane. With the aid of Sabiya, she has set off on a new journey to restore the broken ties between the two flights.
Now is the time to close the scars
Between the lands of star and wind Let us lay down our weapons of war And become friends once again A valiant battle we have both fought For the bay of many thoughts The dragons that will not be forgotten thus Over the bay between us To this epic battle I dedicate To the warriors of magic and wind May our wounds heal And yours the same And let the bay carry out our names. |
