Biography
Amber Moon Dark Mage Permanent Etymology: An Amber Moon is a cocktail containing Tabasco sauce, raw egg, and whiskey or sometimes vodka. The drink is similar to a Prairie oyster, but has fewer ingredients and includes alcohol. It is therefore intended more as a "pick me up" or "hair of the dog" hangover remedy. The Amber Moon is featured in the 1974 film Murder on the Orient Express, based on the 1934 novel by Agatha Christie. In the film, the butler Mr. Beddoes, played by John Gielgud, brings this drink to his employer, Mr. Ratchett, just prior to the discovery of the murder. Beddoes knocks on the door of the dead man's train compartment and announces "Your Amber Moon, Mr. Ratchett." The drink is shown as a whole raw egg in a highball glass half-full of vodka, served with a spoon and bottle of Tabasco on the side. Beddoes is later questioned about the death of Ratchett by Hercule Poirot and relates "His breakfast was his amber moon. He never rose until it had had its full effect." |
Much of the clan tread carefully around Amber, though having not proven herself dangerous, she is a daughter of Oloroso, and a certain aura of creepiness surrounds her. She on occassion helps with some of the witches of the clan having shown proficiency in potion making and spell casting however much of the time she, like her father, pours over ancient dubious texts. Though no change has been spotted in her behaviour since a hatchling, she has always been just on that side of eerily quiet and collected and so many still are wary of her and her intentions as if something inside her is rotten and festering. Word is, a hatchling saw her travel to the untrodden part of Clan Ebrius' borders. Past thick smog and bogs. To where no dragon has returned from before. They saw her leave and return, not unscathed, but she still lives. To those that dare ask she says the eye cover is for her to learn philosphical magicks, not to hide her now unseeing eyes. |
