Biography

MARCE
the shrike
clan leader
{responsible • passionate • goal-focused • bigoted • manipulative}

Wind dragons are excellent flyers, built for both speed and stamina over miles and miles of terrain. Their strong wings are the envy of many other elemental dragons. Compared to average dragons of their species, Wind dragons are thinner and speedier, but weak on the ground and weak in combat. Wind dragons have evolved lighter bones, larger wings and more aerodynamic bodies than other dragons.

Progenitor dragons are formed from a small but stable piece of their respective deity’s magic. They are forever linked to their flight of origin. Like dragons born from unhatched eggs, their raw magical power is greater. However, if they are living outside of their origin flight, they may find that all magic is harder to use.

A storm was raging, the likes of it unheard of in the Zephyr Steppes. In the midst of the violence, a small piece of the Windsinger's magic coalesced into a mirror and a tundra on the wind-whipped plateau. As soon as they formed, they fled the storm and sheltered in an extremely secluded patch of the plateau.

Perhaps the storm addled something in Marce. As she grew stronger, her mind grew stranger. The seclusion of their chosen lair location only helped. Her conceptions of the Windsinger are staunch and strict, the antithesis of the spirit of her flight. She believes in penance and the sacrifice of everything in the name of a god she doesn't understand. In her zealotry, she grew cunning. Her mate, unnerved by the behavior of being he'd been formed beside, was easily convinced to leave and serve directly under the Windsinger. So Marce consolidated her power and allowed only those who would bend to her will to shelter with the clan. Travelers who refuse to accept her beliefs are persuaded to leave. It's never very hard. Marce makes it very clear that she looks down upon all other beliefs (and some dragons) as borderline heretical. And heretics? Heretics would be met with claws and teeth.

For her glaring faults, Marce keeps the clan together. Everyone and everything has its place on the rim of the Plateau and her cunning cruelty is sure to keep everyone right where they belong. Marce never hesitates to act in the best interests of her clanmates--or what she believes are their best interests.

As a powerful wind progenitor, Marce is able to use copious amounts of wind magic. She is swifter than most anyone in the clan. Her hearing is said to rival a bat's and her sense of direction is impeccable. Wherever Marce might go, she can always find her way back, though it's rare she strays far from her bastion. In dire situations, she has been known to summon localized whirlwinds or violent gusts of wind to knock down her enemies. Combined with her ferocious nature and natural swiftness, Marce is a truly fearful fighter.
