Plague runs through her bloodline, and she hopes to serve the Mother to the best of her ability. Those who she thinks deviate from the Plaguebringer's ideals are met with scorn and dismissed. Survival is all that matters. Beginnings The granddaughter of the powerful necromancer and leader Morrigan, Celebrian had much to live up to the moment she was born. Having never seen outside the Scarred Wasteland, she reveled in her heritage as both a mage and a warrior and harnessed this to the best of her abilities. She wanted to do the Mother proud, and she knew it was in her destiny to serve the Mother when her time was finally up in Sornieth. Alas, it was not to be, as she was sabotaged by others and run out of the familiarity of her homeclan. Unable to fully wield her magic in a foreign area, she was assaulted by a wild group of Harpies and had her face and arms torn beyond repair. |

Under Sheltering Wings She had been lying in the hot sands of the Arid Boneyard awaiting her last breaths when she saw a light of hope. A Riot Hazebeacon and in its wake flew a large figure. She cried out a long, high-pitched keen, the effort straining her lungs. It had worked, they had turned towards her and she could push down her fears as what could only be another necromancer landed beside her. He was a bogsneak with blood-red scales and an ivory underbelly. His fins and wings were thin and frayed, scarred by some disease. He looked down at her, bloodied and broken and decided to take her under his wings. He fixed her up as well as he could in the barren wasteland, not hesitating to use his backup magical stores to stabilize her. And when he offered to bring her along in search of a new place to call home, she agreed. |
The Journey They made their way across the desert, Hynodir’s Hazebeacon keeping them from losing their way. They skirted their way around the nomadic clans and trading posts, making camp away from others. Celebrian did not ask why he did not want to be seen, it was none of her business not now. She settled with having her teach him more about the art of necromancy and learned much during their long trek. They didn’t know where they were going. Hynodir had said that he had asked the Hazebeacon to take him somewhere safe, where his past could not reach him. Eventually, it brought them before a towering mass of thorny vines. They had reached the border between the Scarred Wasteland and the Tangled Woods. With Celebrian still too weak to sustain flight, they were forced to travel it by foot with only the bird’s light to guide them through the pitch black. |
