Biography

Rosetta
|Clan Advisor|

MTPuHuR.png

Rosetta is very modest for such a flashy dragon. She never tries to show off or bring attention to herself. Whenever she receives compliments, she always deflects them and tries to turn the interest to a dragon she feels is more deserving of it. All of the single, young males of the clan clamor for her attentions, much to her chagrin, for she has eyes for only one.

The young wildclaw loves to travel. As she explored the lands, in the arcane infused fields, she stumbled upon him: Flourite. He was the most handsome dragon she had ever seen, and it was love at first sight, for her at any rate. But alas, he is a member of another clan. And though he became fond of Rosetta, his feelings were not strong enough to leave his clan for her. But once a month, when the mating fires burn in their blood, she travels to him. She always cherishes the nights she can spend with him, tending their eggs and welcoming their new children to the world.

Though Rosetta is kind and beloved by most of her clan, one fae cannot stand her. Shimmerwave is very vocal in her disdain of the wildclaw. She is constantly putting Rosetta down, and the poor girl takes it to heart. Already modest to a fault, Shimmerwave’s insults only serve to reinforce Rosetta’s own low opinion of herself. And she only grows more depressed as she doesn’t understand what she’s done to offend the fae, and all of her attempts at peacemaking are met with contempt.

By Celebrai

But as they grew, Shimmerwave matured. She realized how foolish she was being and turned her passion towards something else, nature. With her new self, Shimmerwave changed both spiritually and physically and realized her past mistakes. Despite their awkward past, they now have newfound respect for each other and no longer does Shimmerwave pester Rosetta.

Falling Under the Icy Spell

Rosetta loved him dearly, but as everybody would say, to love would only result in pain when the consequences caught up. She travelled away from her mates clan, where they stood frozen like wax statues. She remembered the feeling on her skin as she had entered the damned village. Magic. Pure, yet wavering. Powerful, yet unstable. It surged through her body like burning flames and stung like the cold embrace of ice. Yet, the village was not encased in ice, as it would feel. It was just frozen, in empty and lifeless space. She pondered their demise, sorrow creeping into her veins. Her mate, somebody she dearly loved, had been stripped of the warm light in his eyes. His soul, his kindness and his love had been torn away from her like a doll from a child. And now all he had become was a doll, hollow eyes and an empty husk. Unlovable.

She brushed her hand over his still feathers, wishing to feel the pulsing life beneath them as it had once been. Yet they remained unruffled by her movement, and she knew he and the rest of his clan were never coming back. As a final goodbye, she took his head in her heads and touched her forehead to his, whispering silent prayers for his return. Then, as she slowly escaped the clan of dragons lost to magics spiraling web of power, tears slipped down her face. Inside of her a wish was lit, a wish to return and see her mate like she always had. She wished to see him again, all of him.

Blame it on what you can

Rosetta was usually happy, yet how could she be knowing her mate was gone. Gone. Such a simple word, she played it over in her head. Four letters, one syllable and easy to pronounce. Yet, it described the pain inside of her. It described where her mate was, where he would be forever more. Rosetta suddenly stopped wallowing in pity. It was a sudden rush of hatred, curiosity and rage that pumped through her veins preventing her grief. Rosetta had been too caught up in what had happened to ask why it had, but now she would know.

Rosetta neared the neighboring clan, her red blotchy face faded and she began to smile again, greeting the first dragons she met. An elderly dragon, bent with the burdens of age and its consequences, reached out for her as Rosetta passed. She had almost missed the old dragon, and suddenly felt very surprised by her cold nails on Rosetta's flesh. Rosetta was still sad, yes, but she was a naturally kind dragon so she merely smiled and tried to gently pry away from the women, who held strong.
"You are very pretty dear." The women smiled, exposing a set of mostly intact teeth.

"Why thank you madam, however I'm sure i cannot compare my shallow appearance to the skills of that swordsmen over there, or the mage next to him." Rosetta responded, red bloomed on her cheeks as she brushed off the compliment.

"So, if i may ask..." The women began, searching Rosetta's eyes for a clue "Why are you in our territory, you don't seem to be from our neighboring clans." Some attention came to Rosetta and the women as they talked.

A few dragons drifted closer, including a few young males who watched Rosetta intently, prisoners to her beauty.
Rosetta suddenly felt slightly ill. She was vaguely aware that many more eyes than just the ones she met with her own gaze lay on her. She felt self-conscious, like a little girl under the intimidation of all those superior in size to herself. Rosetta smiled, stood straight and responded with a clear, unwavering voice.
"I have come for a story." She began, allowing her words to sink in.

"The clan over the cliffside, you must know of it's current state, has frozen in place. I wish to know why, and i assume you know the answer i seek." Rosetta could barely believe herself, so serious and demanding. She could never remember a time she had drifted so far from her regular personality. Silence spread across the clan. The dragon's wrist loosened around her own hand, dropping entirely.
"We do not know. We only saw and heard when it happened." The older dragon shuddered.
"And what was it that you saw..." Rosetta hated herself, among all other things, for prying.
The crowd murmured, and dispersed back into the regular shuffle of the morning crowd.

"Come." The older woman whispered, dragging her to a set of stools under a makeshift overhang where various wears, (were they magical possessions?) were strewn. After she had seated Rosetta down, the older women spoke once again.

"People feel uncomfortable speaking about it. They are all superstitious, trying to pretend that nothing has happened to mask their fear of it repeating." Her tone was hushed, silent yet urgent. There was something beneath it, an unidentifiable emotion.
"Tea?" The dragon asked, pouring a light green water into a small chipped pot for her.

"Anyway, if you truly do want to hear this story i will tell you. But first..." The dragon held out her hand, and when Rosetta shook it she was surprised to find a firm grip with warm and callused, yet soft, hands awaiting her and grasping her own hand.
"I'm Ilyza." She offered, as they exchanged names and began the long process of story telling.

"Only one of our clan members saw the magic travel across the land, greedily consuming those in its path. He was our messenger, sent with a message for the high court from the now frozen clan. When our messenger returned he didn't carry the expected response, but instead a wild story. He described the flowing magic across the lands, how it touched all life and froze it. Leaves no longer rustled in the wind, plants stopped their rapid growth. From his spot, directly outside of the magics reach nearing the clan's territory, he watched dragons stop moving. They stopped living. Some people thought him to be crazy, but the proof didn't lie. Those curious in our clan communicated with the southern clan, their other neighbors. Their mouths released a rumour that a magic spire broke and released excess magic. The Arcanist had released it accidentally, unknowingly. But none of this is backed up, who knows if the Arcanist was truly involved in the first place." Ilyza took a break, letting her words be heard.

"The truth is, our clan has forgotten it. Or attempted to. Mainly due to the reason that something odd was found after the clan was frozen. The south clan took it upon themselves to discover everything they could about the state they were in, having some important relations between the clan leaders. No hearts pumped blood, it truly was as if they were frozen in time. Are frozen in time. I heard that one dragon, further away from the center of the clan right on the border of where the magic reached still moves. Slowly though, his heart pumps irregularly once every half hour. His eyes have shifted once, but he too is frozen just with less strong consequences. They have tried to revive the clan from their fate, but it is an impossible task. Eventually we all stopped asking the question why and cleared away from the clan, some even consider it to be cursed land."
Ilyza stopped, quizzically looking over at Rosetta. Rosetta sat in silence, nothing she had heard was unbelievable, in fact it didn't seem like a suitable response. How could an entire wave of freed, wild magic only reach her mate's clan. It seemed impossible. Therefore Rosetta didn't comment, only expectantly looked back up to Ilyza who laughed as soon as she met Rosetta's gaze.

"I know you are young, curious. I understand your need to know more, and more until he facts fill you up to an unbearable level of understanding. But i cannot explain more too you, i don't know more. Your best shot is to leave it alone now, to let it go. You are too young to obsess about this, although it is in your nature, i think it's best for you to go on and live your life. Don't live the life of those you wish to know about, frozen in time. Always searching."
Ilyza finished. Rosetta was baffled by the forwardness that Ilyza used in her words, almost as if she was her mother. Rosetta thanked her nonetheless and slipped out of the chair, walking through the clan towards the south. When she turned around Ilyza still sat there. Was it her imagination when a glint in her eyes, that Rosetta had classified as a light blue upon meeting her, showed some sort of secrecy. Something deep and hidden with all the years of age she had ahead of Rosetta. All she knew was that Ilyza was more than the surface, and that there was nothing more she could ask that would receive her needed answer.

Rosetta had left the outer territory of Ilyza's clan moments ago, unaware of the young males tripping over each other as they watched her pass. Rosetta traveled further south, searching for the southern clan, against the opposite side of the frozen village.
