B I O G R A P H Y

Ever since she was born Lyria has had a way with fire. Born into a fire clan, that was only natural, but Lyria relationship with fire was different, unique. The other hatchlings would run, jump, and play in the fire, but Lyria would control the fire. She wasn't interested in playing with it, she was curious about using it to do her bidding. When her parents learned about her power, they were frightened, and threw her out. She was forced to live in the orphan den of the lair. There, even the orphans stayed away from her, she scared them away. Filled with bitterness and rage that she did not belong, she decided she would not take it anymore. She had to do something. That night Lyria thought about it. From a corner, she watched the clan sit around the fire, laughing and talking happily. That was when she heard it.

"Set me free..." Lyria looked around, curious who was speaking. "Set me free..."Lyria looked to where the voice sounded where it was coming from. The fire. It blazed bright, beautiful long flames creating dancing shadows on the lair walls. Entranced, Lyria started toward it. The clan watched on as Lyria walked closer and closer to the fire. A dragon cleared their throat. "Umm, Lyria, the fire will burn you if you... umm... get to close..."As the dragon talked Lyria walked closer and closer, until she was standing so close she could feel the flames licking against her outstretched hand. The fire called to her, begging to be set free. So Lyria set it free. Raising her hand to the sky, the fire rose with it, it's flames curling in the open sky, curling around the moon, before hiding it from sight. Screams sounded from the dragons around the fire, but Lyria barely heard them. Then, with one command, the flames fell, and rolled along the lair. "Be free." The flames devoured the lair and each den in seconds, like a hungry lion finally eating after being starved for days.

Lyria stood in the center of the burned out lair. She called the flames back, and they retreated into her claws, leaving a permanent yellow-orange glow on them. Lyria examined her new claws, in awe. Then, she looked up. The bodies of charred dragons lay around her, each dragon to burnt they are unreconizable. Lyria walked around and looked in each den, horrified to see the same in every den. Burnt. Dead. Charred to ashes. Lyria backed away, staring at her claws again, this time in disgust. How could she do such a horrible thing? She hadn't meant to hurt them. ...Or had she? No! She hadn't! Tears streamed down her face, as she turned her back, and ran. Away. Away from the fire, away from the horrible thing she had done.

____Lyria stayed away from fire for years. She was so afraid that she would hurt someone else. But, when she joined the Clan of Laninas, Naoki urged her to use her power. Naoki had Talon engineer a new metal, a fireproof metal. A new den was created, and covered in the metal. In awe at their acceptance of her she was eager to please. She practiced every day, until her power no longer controlled her, she controlled it. She now lives her life normally, and no dragon has a single fear that she might hurt them.

____Lyria became the first fire mage of the Clan of Laninas, and helps out by starting fires to warm the lair in the winter, to help Talon meld his metal, to burn debris, to put out dangerous forest fires, and more. She has been a huge help since she joined the clan, and she loves that she can use her power for so much good.
