Despite being a creature born of dust and earth, Astraeus had always looked to the stars. As reclusive as the rest of her kind, she spent many nights alone in her birth clan, fascinated by the passage of time in the heavens. Born into the controlled chaos of the Shifting Expanse, she longed for order and security, not wanting to survive from storm to storm. The heavens had rules, and with her Lightning-born analytical mind she had a knack for observation. While astronomy is still a science it is not valued solely for practicality in her birth flight, as natural sciences like chemistry and engineering are preferred. So the Bogsneak traveled north, where her talents could be truly appreciated. Upon arrival in Voluistis she became a frequent visitor of Athenea's library. He certainly wasn't going to tell the strange creature to leave, and so she stayed in Voluistis. The two have formed an uneasy friendship, although Athenea cannot help but be intimidated when he brushes against her reaching for a book. After several moons of study and quietly avoiding each other, Astraeus was offered a job in the Clan. She would work as a scribe for Voluistis, and in return she would have her run of the star charts and services the library had to offer. She accepted the offer, and now is an official member of Clan Voluistis. Despite her official title, she still studies and offers her services freelance in astronomy. The first of her kind in the Clan, she arouses much curiosity from her clanmates. However Zela has his work cut out for him trying to convince the reclusive sneak to let him study her.
