Biography

Tapanara
Concept and Lore by Bahri

Status: Endangered
Diet: Meat and Insects
Combat: Rely on wits, strategy, and magical prowess

General Lore: It is thought that, in the beginning of dragonkind’s reign, the Lightweaver fashioned herself children to tend to her libraries and safeguard her knowledge. These Tapanara- made in the likeness of the libraries’ rich tapestries, rugs, and windows- took counsel from the Lightweaver, transcribing her memory of the early world into written word. Still others flew out into other territories to divine their history, returning only to create tomes out of what they had learned. Many never returned at all. They read as they worked and developed keen minds, perfect for recalling the most mundane of facts and casting the most difficult of spells. As the centuries passed and dragons grew more populous, the need for specialized librarians and historians diminished; any dragon, properly trained, could write books and practice magic. Old tomes were lost, and the Tapanara’s numbers dwindled until they were nothing more than a once-respected breed.

Habits/Personality: Tapanara are exceptionally intelligent and very adept magic users. The few lines that remain passed down the secrets of the first libraries to the current generation, and it’s no secret that the Tapanara are as secretive with their hidden knowledge as they are adept in it. They make naturally good librarians and seem to know history that few others do. Tapanara Nox are more inclined to be guardians, whereas Tapanara Fae tend to be the scholarly bookkeepers.
