Shade was one of the six heroes who helped seal away the Black Mage. No one remembers because he was erased from the history of the world due to the seal's need to use a living person's time. He was cursed by the Black Mage and banished from Maple World and thrown into a world called Vulpes, the home of the pointy eared foxes. This was where he woke up centuries later and was helped by young kit by the name of Moonbeam. He lived with the Pointy Eared foxes for a while, during this time Moonbeam gave Shade his name and her spirit powers, making her vulnerable. When the opportunity to return to Maple World arose, Shade leaped at it, hoping to find his friends. Unaware he had erased himself from existence in Vulpes, he looked for Freud in Maple World. Instead, he came across Evan who told him Freud died shortly after sealing the Black Mage. During his travels to find his friends, he found out that the Mercedes he talked to wasn't really Mercedes and Aran lost her memory. Luminous and Phantom were his only hopes after those ordeals, yet when he finally meets both of them, he was shocked. They were hostile to him, their facial expressions and tones told him something was wrong. Leaving behind Phantom and Luminous, Shade went to Von Leon's castle to search for the time capsule they had made. When he found it and opened it, he had noticed the pictures he put in there did not have himself in them. His existence was wiped from the world, he sat there and thought that he could start fresh in Vulpes. He made his journey back to Vulpes, again, unaware of the curse. When he made it back, he was astonished no one remembered him, not even Moonbeam. Moonbeam stated that her spiritual powers suddenly disappeared, thinking the Fox God took them away to punish her for something she did, however, she does not remember what she did. He left Vulpes with a burdened heart, realizing if he leaves a dimension, everyone forgets he was even there. He now stays in Maple World. During Black Heaven, Shade became friends with Aran again. They started training together after that, becoming closer than ever. When they heard Lilin was kidnapped, they both went to Slumbering Dragon Island to help her out, meeting Even who was there for a different reason. Shade saves Lilin and they got out of there, coming upon the same spider Evan encountered. After meeting Afrien, and while Evan was listening to a message left years ago, they were interrupted by Damien, a Black Mage commander. Afrien got the group to safety, however, Evan wanted to go back to save him, Shade stopped him. Saying he could consider to not act recklessly, the trio escaped and Shade told Evan to find the other heroes while Aran and himself will catch up later as Maha was damaged. After repairs were done, both rushed to help the rest of their friends, saving them from the Demon army. The group escapes the army when Evan activates the Abraxas artifact, which was an airship. Freud's consciousness appears before the group and recognizes Shade, but forgot his name due to the spell, Shade tells him the name given to him by Moonbeam, and tears up from happiness. Shade stays in Maple World while the others go to another dimension because of the curse he has. Communicating through means that allows him to talk to them through dimensions.
