As one of the founders of the Penumbraladin clan, Dak acts as the unofficial second in command, though he prefers his official title just be that of one of the clan healers. He’s the mother-hen of the two leaders, often working himself up into a frenzy at the thought of something going wrong and one of their own getting hurt, but everyone appreciates that he cares, even if he tends to hover at times.

- Hatchling Biography -
Dak’s parents died when he was very young, so he doesn’t remember them, but his adoptive parents, a mated spiral pair who were very dear to his parents, were very kind. As a hatchling, Dak was a trial to take care of for his parents, seeing as he was already about their size, but they somehow managed. They loved him dearly and he was happy, as he so often loved to tell them, but they appreciated the verbal confirmation all the same.

- Adolescent Biography -
Being spirals, Dak’s parents could never truly comprehend why, as a fledgling, he decided he had to leave on his Search, but he urged them to understand that this was just something he had to do. Though they still did not want him to leave, they gave in, and wished him good luck on whatever he was looking for. With gratitude and love pulsing in his chest, Dak set off, determined and hopeful that it would not take long to find his charge.

It took longer than he had hoped, but well, he could be patient.

When Ausha came to him, scratched and bleeding and in need of a doctor, he didn't ever think he'd end up falling for her. Not that she wasn’t beautiful and strong and amazing, but he always thought that he'd end up with someone more...elegant. He had thought he had a type. Besides, in his honest opinion, she could have done so much better.

Needless to say that he was surprised she returned his feelings. When he presented the necklace he made, he was half convinced she’d turn it down, they had been fighting at the time after all, but was ultimately relieved when she accepted, a grin blossoming on her face.

- Adult Biography -
When the pair made it back to the woods and found that they had a mutual charge, they hadn’t even known that was possible, they ended up picking a cove network not far off to make their lair in. They'd settled down, had a hatchling, and for a time, everything was nice and relatively peaceful.

Then they somehow started a clan without realizing it and everything went crazy.

Suddenly Dak’s peaceful days were replaced with reigning in temperamental dragons, worrying if everyone had enough to eat, hoping his daughter, Reda, didn’t cause too much trouble and making sure his mate didn't work herself into an early grave.

However, despite all the yelling he does at his dragons to be careful, morons, you’ll get yourself killed and despite feeling like ripping his beard out some days, he can't bring himself to regret their clan full of strays and outsiders.

When the clan first formed, the two guardians did not consciously decide that they were the leaders. It was more of a subtle decision that neither were aware they made until one of the dragons started referring to them as "boss one” and “boss two"

While Dak is technically the co-leader, he never introduces himself as such. It's more of an unspoken thing; if Ausha is making a decision, odds are pretty high that Dak is going to be making that decision with her. Ausha rarely does anything without consulting him first, they're a team after all. Though Dak thinks that she'd do just fine without him. Ausha disagrees.

Dak’s mother-hen tendencies can occasionally cause friction with the more independent members of the clan. He knows he shouldn’t be so smothering, but well, he just wants to make sure everyone is safe and happy. Ultimately the clan knows this, but sometimes, it’s just too much. Ausha often has to console him after he’s had a particularly nasty fight with a member.

Thore and Impa are often among the independent dragons who argue with their male leader, but they also think it's sweet, though they'd never admit it. They have a reputation to keep, after all.

Though they don't mind messing with Dak's reputation. The two often come up with ridiculous rumors, just to see his reactions. More often than not, they tend to be over the top and hilarious. Well, at least to them anyway.

However, unbeknownst to them, Dak is onto them.

- Familiar Biography -
Ren came to be due to an alchemical brew gone wrong. When Dak realized his cauldron wasn't just creaking, it was actually trying to talk to him, he, well, freaked out. However, once he calmed down, his curiosity got the better of him and he decided to see what would happen. Ren is more of a personal project than a familiar, but the curious kettle has become extremely loyal to his master and refuses to let anyone else use him. Which Dak finds mostly endearing but it can be incredibly inconvenient and frustrating as well.
