From the moment Maeniel first scratched out a place to sleep in the Highland Scrub, he knew he was born to lead a flight of dragons. Lead them where, he knew not but leadership called to him at his deepest level. In his blind desire to serve his clan, he was betrayed by Skye who convinced him to exalt himself to the Stormcatcher. For years Maeniel served the gods his flight traveled Sornieth under, always keeping an eye (two when he could spare them) on their journey through life. The clan foundered in the Windswept Plateau under the misguidance of several would-be leaders after Skye was overthrown. Finally, when only a handful remained, the Windsinger granted Maeniel his freedom and returned him to his clan.

The once small Fae reappeared to his clan as a powerful Guardian. With the remaining members unwilling to remain in the Windswept Plateau, Maeniel undertook a tiring journey to find them a new home. In his travels he crossed the Sea of a Thousand Currents and landed, exhausted, in the Hewn City. It was here he met his Charge, Eris, trapped in a desiccated tree by creatures she called 'Shadelings'. After saving her, Eris invited Maeniel to recover from his long flight at her den. It happened, suddenly, as soon as Maeniel stepped foot into the ruined library. The search he'd been on his entire life, before he even became a guardian, came to an abrupt stop. He had found where he was supposed to be.

Those who decided to stay with Maeniel crossed the water flight's territory to start a new life in the Hewn City and the library of magical books. As patron of the clan, Maeniel took the name Pendragon in honor of his favorite section.
