Aja frowned at his wings and continued his scowl when he saw the sky. Every Imperial could fly, almost every dragon species could too, but why couldn't he? His wings were too small to support his large body in flight and he despised it. It felt unfair, it felt like a cruel joke that someone as adept as he could not fly. He had tried everything from magical spells to strange concoctions and the only result he ever got was a belly ache. He sighed and let his head fall to the ground with a thud, making dust fly up, and the runes across his body shimmered. Aja could feel the magical power coursing through his wings to his arms through his tail and to his head; magic was pulsing all throughout his body.
And yet, he still could not fly. Someone once told him you never truly missed something until it was gone, but to never have it in the first place was like a constant wound. Every dragon soaring through the air was a constant reminder of what he couldn't do. With his skills in magic and herbalism, he could find a solution to any problem and could perform almost any task, except for flight.
Aja had a minor stutter, but he was never ashamed of it, it never prevented him from speaking. However, his too small wings prevented him from flying and that was what bugged him so much. He never showed his feelings about his wings to his lair mates, but when they all flew out to enjoy the sun and the sky he felt envy and jealousy. Aja shook himself, reminding himself that he should not result to self-pity. Aja opened the book in front of him once more and began studying herbs, committing each page to memory.

I have been grounded all of my life.
I was hatched with Draconic Dwarfism in my wings. I can't fly like every other dragon. Even the smallest Fae could fly. So why couldn't I? I can't fly, so I study magic and herbalism. While I hate not being able to fly, I couldn't self pity. So I read. Memorizing each page by heart makes my day a bit brighter. But being stuck to the ground hurts me every day. I can't fly. I am stuck. I can't go anywhere I want because I can't fly.
I speak with a stutter, though it has never stopped me from pursuing what I love. Reading every day, studying the herbs and plants. It makes my life a little bit better. Though I have gotten used to it. I have figured out how to reach new heights. Being grounded doesn't bother me too much anymore.
Besides, if you can't solve your problems, why whine about it? I just will keep doing what I love.
