Biography

Quote:
It was never enough to simply 'heal', you see. He had to know the sickness. To understand it. To bend it, to wield it, to make it his. Now the healer's body seethes with secret, vile pathogens of its own, lurking in blood and bite, and he exults in them. A cold and unforgiving perfectionist, this grim patriarch does not ask great things of his clan—he demands them. And those who do not give themselves to plague, as he has, are given to it.

Previously the skilled healer for a clan in the Light flight, Pharma became infected—as much mentally and spiritually as anything--during his attempts to understand and ultimately purge the plagues of the Scarred Wasteland. He entered convinced he had the skill to cleanse the land; he emerged a firm devotee of the Plaugebringer who spreads more ill than he cures. His extensive knowledge of medicine has now been turned towards the task of brewing ever more foul strains of plague, and no living thing is safe from his experiments, even himself.

Pharma's time as a healer has led him to believe that to suffer is a privilege, easily taken, not an inevitability. He has embraced the ideal that each wound or sickness is a trial to be conquered, and holds not only himself but everyone who crosses his path to the same lofty standard which once led to his downfall.

Constantly attended by a massive, silent bodyguard, Pharma rarely leaves his laboratory in the Wyrmwound any more. But he leaves often enough, in search of new test subjects, and the clan's other medics are about enough, that many around the clan have begun to murmur he is no longer a dragon at all. Over time, Pharma's flesh has begun to fail and decay under the punishment of his dedication and environment alike. Drawing on Rhodorian and Kejutan's studies in biomechanical support and modification, he has begun to shear out and shore up such weak places with metal, circuit, and wire. Rumors abound that his very touch has become utterly toxic: the sicknesses brewing inside him pumped to his claws or the glittering barb of his tail.

Impractical for surgery, of course. But the rumors are there.
