Sylariel

At the center of Blackmoon's chaotic activity is Sylariel. High warlock and long time leader of the clan. He doesn't seem to quite fit in the box one would normally put most pearlcatchers - he's snide, rude, and often easy to anger. Despite a never ending list of duties for a clan leader to attend to, Sylariel always finds ways to do the bare minimum. When not lazing about his quarters in the canopy of the tree, Sylariel is more often than not wrapped up in studies and rituals behind closed doors - some of which are secret even to those closest to him.

His lackluster control of the clan has resulted in more than a bit of chaos to those living below the canopy of his mighty tree. Many are left to govern themselves and solve their own problems, which has only caused tensions between Sylariel and the dragons of Blackmoon's lowest rung - the Undercoft. Ogmund especially clashes with the clan leader regularly, and both dragons seem constantly at each other's throats. To keep his complaining quiet, Sylariel turns a blind eye to whatever nonsense Ogmund wishes to do in his realm below the tree's roots.

Despite his laziness and small stature, Sylariel is not to be understimated. Many dragons in the clan still readily fear his often explosive anger, and more than one dragon seeking to topple the pearlcatcher from his position have not survived the attempt. Sylariel is ancient, and the power he has commanded from his perch above the swampy rivers has stood the test of time. Thusfar, anyway.
