Personality
Monarch holds manners and dignity high above most things. This is likely from it being drilled into his head as a hatchling. The result of the environment he has grown up in, Monarch is snotty and less than pleased conversing with other members of his clan. He has a taste for the rare and refined, picky about what he will eat and what he will wear, often commentating on other's tastes in a negative and critical manner.

Funfacts
  • Because of his knowledge on wealth, Monarch was appointed appraiser of the clan; he relays to Napstablook and Stella what the objects they're in possession of are worth.
  • When he is not being pushed to work, Monarch is lazing about, reading the latest post and going about his business.
  • He is affectionately referred to as the clan's 'brat'.
  • Monarch lives in a small cabin-like structure that he had Ellwood create and weave into a home for him, customized to his exact needs, located not far from Napstablook and Stella's storage shack, to which he goes when he is needed to appraise.
  • His Baku, Wordsworth, is just as bratty as him. It often mimics his motions and words through sputters of it's trunk.

History
Monarch reigns from a very sophisticated clan of dragons hailing from The Cloudsong. Being brought up around, for lack of more flattering words, several snobby and self-centered dragons, he took upon some of these traits himself.

After the disbandment of the clan, Monarch was left to wander the lands. Clan after clan either disbanding or rejecting him, he eventually came upon the Driftwood Drag's ragtag clan. He was reluctant about even associating with them at first, but, seeing as they were so tightly knit together and no one else was eager to take him in, he joined together with them. His tastes are refined and specific, and he has quite a bit of knowledge on all of the things that dragons favor; what's rare, what's popular.
