She loved her lady, loved her the way any maidservant would. She loved her and she would protect her, even trade her soul for her lady's comfort. Words with a witch and the promise of her mortality rendered her a monster yet to come. Warm skin, warm hair, cold soul, it was a fate well worth it if it meant her lady was to be eased into comfort. Soon the nights will be long and there will be no welcome mornings. Beasts do not sleep, they have no dreams, they become empty and hollow of meaning.
