Biography

LMdO378.png

Name: "King of Light", Hebrew origin.

Wisps are an ancient subspecies that time and the steady march of Dragon-kind's progress has forgotten. When they came about is now a mystery, but they were once relied upon to predict the coming of storms. They fly with the clouds in the sky; lazy and languid when weather is clear, or happenstance and confused when a storm is chasing their tails.

They travel across the entire land from the skies, folklore stating that they could rest upon the clouds themselves instead of touching foot onto the ground. Some believed that they never ceased to glide in the air alongside puffy thunderheads or mottled wisps of clouds left in the sky. They have a deep affinity to the land in its entirety, not simply the Expanse -- though they migrate back to the heated deserts to raise their young, primarily in the Highland Scrub.

But, with the advancement of science and industry in the Expanse, these nomadic dragons soon became few and far between; no longer so needed with machines that could foretell when a storm was drawing near. Peaceful and often avoiding conflict, these dragons are also charmingly confused by the advanced technology that has popped up while they were migrating with the clouds. Being so generally removed from society, while friendly creatures, Wisps will frequently make social and cultural mistakes that could cause offense without the intention of being malicious.

Most commonly white or light colored at birth, the eldest of this species can become a mottled gold-ish brown due to over-exposure to the sun.

On account of their wandering lifestyle and remaining at high altitudes for most of their lives, these dragons are rather vapid and forgetful. They speak almost painfully slow at times, and so rarely say anything at all when it is not of the utmost importance. Their attention wanders just as they do, and they can be easily distracted by creatures or colors they do not frequently see on the sky's horizons.
