Sabix's past is a bit of a mystery. As near as anyone can tell, he was born in a Plague lair that had its hatchery damaged by a heavy storm. He was found as an egg at the edge of a flood-swollen creek, and brought to the creche of nearby Nature Clan to be hatched and raised. Not knowing anything about his birth clan has made it easier for Sabix to acclimate to life as a Nature dragon, so when he grew, he set out to find a home within the Flight.

Finding his niche in the Clan of the Outcast proved to be easy; as a smart and charismatic dragon, there is plenty he is good at. More than anything, though, he wants to learn to fight to protect the clan. The Matriarch and the other dragons currently in charge of this, however, have so far refused to allow him to be trained.

Amalthea’s interest in keeping him out of the fight is purely emotional: she and Sabix have been mates since shortly after he arrived. They bonded while she was caring for his persistent wounds. This has given him more time with her than any dragons other than Lucien have ever been able to boast, and as a result he has more than his fair share of jealous gazes turned his way. Funnily enough, this leaves him safer than he has ever been: without anyone being sure of just how much the Matriarch cares for him, it's too risky to go against Sabix. He has yet to abuse this power, but the pessimistic within the clan say it will be a matter of time.
