Tourmaline dug her way out of the earth one day and settled into the Wikia clan. She has a small dwelling out in the middle of the Gladeveins not too far from the main clan where she does all her work, much of which involves digging or dirt. As a gemologist she always has a ton of rocks and gems surrounding her, as well as a notebook in hand.

Tourmaline is currently working on a gem encyclopedia; a large tome contains all her work. She both illustrates and writes about the gems she has discovered as well as gems she has studied alongside other gemologists. So far she has no end point in mind, when she completes one tome she will start another.

How Tourmaline gets her work done is anyone's guess. Those who have visited her dwelling have wondered how she has survived this long. She essentially lives in a small hut containing large piles of rocks, gems and dirt. Mixed in are many books, ornaments and odd bits of furniture. She assures anyone who asks that she is fine, and she does seem to be, but they still remain doubtful.
