The first and last child of Valkyrie and Retribution, Vanguard is innocent to the trail of mystery and darkness that she has inherited from her mother. Largely respected and loved, she is seen as true child of The Enclave. Although sometimes haughty and sarcastic, she is not feared, and largely seen with humoured endearment - particularly due to her youth. Her occasionally troublesome attitude is also easily overlooked when compared to the skill in which she works.

A true nocturne at heart, Vanguard often mimics other dragons. These habits are particularly useful for her role as a messenger, repeating word-for-word and gesture-for-gesture what others have communicated. She has proven herself particularly adaptable in cooperating with the varied species throughout the clan.

Unknown to herself, Vanguard is - like her mother - a vampire. However upon her birth, Valkyrie sacrificed a large portion of her own life-span so to provide for her daughter, meaning Vanguard would never have to steal another's years in order to live her own to the full. Yet Valkyrie is aware that her daughter may grow to have strange instincts and urges that must be suppressed, lest the secret of both mother and daughter be brought to light. Valkyrie continues to live in concern of her daughter's safety, while Vanguard is blissfully unaware of the curse.
