Born to a mother with far too many hatchlings to pay much quality attention to one-on-one time, Malie learned to take care of herself very quickly. The oldest of her egg-nest-siblings, Malie didn't so much 'take charge' as she did 'quietly and efficiently taking care of things before anyone noticed it needed taking care of', a habit she has even now.

Very caring and protective, Malie has a natural knack for handling hatchlings, and often has a relatively easy time of it. She isn't too great at teaching them to take care of themselves, or passing on other skills they might need, but this is generally not a problem, as she is terribly useful at taking care of the very small ones who aren't ready for such lessons yet.

Outside of her caretaker duties, Malie is usually quiet to the point of being silent, and usually resting. She has started to develop an interest in medicine, and can sometimes be found quietly reading a book of natural and safe cures for things like sniffles or to help ease a young Ridgeback's first shedding.

Malie adores seeing the hatchlings she helped raise grow up and go on to do great things. And loves it even more when they stop by to visit her, or write her letters. She just wishes that sometimes they didn't go on to do such dangerous things, and whoever visits her is getting a thorough fussing over before she'll settle down to hear the stories of what they've been up to since they left her care..
