The moon

Orion was born for one purpose and one purpose only: to find answers in the stars. He was enchanted by their beauty at a young age and enjoyed staying up late to study the constellations. Some dragons believe the reason behind this is because he was taken from his mother and siblings right after hatching to live in his father's clan, which wouldn't have been bad if his father hadn't been sent off to Plaguebringer right after they returned. Other dragons say he was too young to remember all of that, especially when other dragons took care of him.

In truth, Orion doesn't care about his past, all things happen in time. If he hadn't been left alone in life earlier it would be later after all. All that matter was his decryption of the messages given to him by the night sky above. His clan used the knowledge to know the future of the clan. There was a message in a dream long forgotten about the answer lying in the stars and Orion was going to find that answer. So far there were several times his work had saved the clan from disease and famine just by looking at the constellations above and the color the moon changed based on the atmosphere.

Of course while the job is lonely he doesn't always work alone. His familiar joins him often to watch the stars at his side. The two sit there in peaceful silence as he takes note of what the moon and stars look like to be translated. Bayanar, the clan astronomer, often helps translate their meanings, though Orion is better at deciphering them while Bayanar is better at predicting constellation patterns. With everything he has done and continues to do for the clan some dragons don't ever think he'll have time for a mate but Orion always claims that if it is the will of fate for him to find a dragoness he loves they will come in their own time, just as his predictions and warnings do.
