Virinko

Virinko had no interest in sticking around to be overshadowed by his mother's legacy, and once he was old enough, set out on his own. He avoided heading deeper into Plague lands and visiting the Wyrmwound, not wanting to give others the impression he had inherited his mother's spiritual wanderlust. Instead he found himself at the borders of the Water domain, and fell in love with the Tidelord's waves.

He picked up the basics of sailing from the small, harried clans at the border and longed for his own ship and crew. He attmpted to apprentice himself to shipmakers he met, though they had no interest in teaching one who was not water born. Enraged, Virinko headed home, intent on gathering a pack and returning to the shores in order to take a ship by force.

Once returned to his home clan, he met Nightskull who was similarily disaffected with the place of his birth. Nightskull told Virinko of the Qins, quintuplets whose parentage made it difficult for them to stay within the clan. The seven of them set off under Virinko's leadership, reaching the border of the Plague and Water domains.

The seven of them captured a smaller vessel from a shipyard, but the young crew's inexperience led to them running aground not far from the place of theft. They were discovered by those they had robbed quickly, and proved themselves much more abled fighters than sailors.

Not to be deterred by their somewhat failure, Virinko decided to set out with his crew and take to the waves as raiders. He declared himself captain, giving Nightskull the position of his first mate. Though unimpressed by sailing, the Quins took a liking to the idea of raiding, and agreed to continue with him.

Virinko dubbed his ship the Sand Runner, in homage to their disastrous first attempt at sailing, and set out with his crew, determined to make his own name and fortune.
