She is bad at adapting to different environments so instead of traveling a lot she relies on various traveling merchants. She also has connections with different mines and because of her work and family inheritance she can pay pretty generously for rare finds. When she's not negotiating prices with traders she makes professional estimations on the values of stones and statues. Her clients can trust her on her extensive knowledge of minerals of all kinds. She also crafts jewelry from pretty rocks and sells them to the highest bidder.

Sombra is a very persuasive dragon and loves to let others know about her findings, even if they're not all that interested. She doesn't feel like she doesn't fit in though, as there are many who appreciate her field of work and jewelry. She is a bit snobby sometimes and can come across as rude, and she doesn't realize it herself. She can get extremely defensive when people don't show enough respect to her rocks. To her they are very important and she says they hold all the stories of the past.

By studying the rocks Sombra hopes to one day uncover all the secrets of the creation of Sornieth. Her collection is invaluable to her and she is willing to die to protect it.
