Nightkaia was on a trip to the Foxfire Bramble in the Tangled Wood to speak to an old friend who was the leader of a clan of rogue and thrives, Serrated. Before she left for home, Serrated gave Nightkaia a parting gift of a shadow egg that a clan member did not want. Taking it, Nightkaia put the egg in Blackrose and Seral's nest, but not long after, it hatched, revealing a small, blind guardian hatchling. (yes I made her blind. Leave me alone.)
It seems that with the help of fabian and Blackrose, They have successfully taught her to create an image of the world through her heightened senses, specifically smell. She has a spectacular nose and can smell a Duskrat from 20 miles. Because of this sense, it was decided that, though she cannot see, her sense of smell and her stamina makes her an amazing day watch.

Kerosene is a quite violent familiar. It's probably only because of the fact that he is an all-terrifying SCORPION. Nightkaia despises the creature, but lets it stay because Tawney insists that he is a good boy while simultaneously getting stung enough to be paralyzed. Kerosene hot his name from the way it seems that He likes setting things on fire. In the Achfall waste.
