Though not a Wind dragon, Watanabe had the urge to travel from a young age. He wanted to explore the world, and protect those in need with his sword. After hard work, and a good few long years of training and meditation, Watanabe set out as a wandering Samurai. He didn't have a goal set in mind, only to help those that he came across. In the beginning, he had no destination. Once he left his home, he left it for good. He wouldn't return--returning would mean he had failed in his dream of traveling. After all, no doubt it'd take his entire lifetime to travel Sornieth. Donning his armor, and with his trusty katana at his side, Watanabe set off into the world. Who would he encounter? What sort of enemies would he face? Even he wasn't sure.

After some rather uneventful encounters (though he did save a good number of dragons on his travels), he stopped to rest at Clan Willowbrook. Tired and hungry from his travels, he figured it was a good time to rest. While the Tangled Wood left him with a bad feeling, the clan itself was rather welcoming and friendly. While enjoying his stay there, he came to be a regular at the tavern there, and found that beer wasn't to his taste rather quickly. But he could hold in a decent amount of alcohol, before being unable to stand. And while hand-to-hand combat isn't his forte, he also learned that, while drunk, he could throw a pretty mean left hook. Thankfully the bar fight didn't last long, and the next morning, all was forgiven. His drink of choice ended up being sake, or rice wine, rather than beer. Though mead was a close second, rather liking it's sweet flavor. While he enjoyed his time at Clan Willowbrook, it was time to take his leave. With his body well rested, and his belly full of food (and drink), it was time to set off. After saying his goodbyes to the clan members, he set off into the Tangled Wood, off to his endless destination...or so he thought.

The Tangled Wood bordered Watanabe's homeland of the Sunbeam Ruins. During his youth, he heard stories about the Lightweaver, and her creations--Imperials and Pearlcatchers. Both breeds often didn't get along, as they both saw themselves as superior to one another. But there was a dark side to the Lightweaver's 'perfect' Imperials. If one died, any Imperials close by would suddenly become drawn to it, and be infused with the corpse. As the creature became larger and gathered more bodies, it was no longer an Imperial. It was now a creature called an Emperor--a being made up of deceased Imperial dragons. While Watanabe had never seen an Emperor, he heard enough about them to become frightened of them. He harbors no ill will towards any Imperial he meets...but if he's fighting in battle with them, he becomes a bit anxious. If the Imperial falls...will other Imperials in the area suddenly fuse with the body? With that horrifying thought in mind, Watanabe's urge to leave home became stronger. He didn't want to stay in the land of the light, where nightmares lurked in the shadows...

As he traveled through the Tangled Wood, before he even saw the light, Watanabe felt something following him. He felt a dragon-like presence...but it wasn't entirely a dragon. Keeping his guard up, paw on his sword, he continued on...until an attack so quick blindsided him. The creature, whatever it was, was quick. And strong. But small...which confused him. Still, Watanabe tried to fight back. But, not being used to the Tangled Wood, he was at a disadvantage. The attacking creature knew the land, and quickly took down Watanabe. But he didn't go down without a fight. Striking out with the last bit of his strength, the Skydancer finally cut into the creature deep enough to slow it down. With his vision quickly blacking out, he saw what had attacked him, and it made his blood run cold. The 'creature' was a small Imperial hatchling. ...Or would've been an Imperial hatchling, had the little one not have been sporting three decomposing heads, three tails, an extra set of wings, and six legs. It's horrifying form stayed with Watanabe, even as his vision went dark.
By some act of divine grace...Watanabe didn't die. Somehow, he managed to drag his beaten form out of the Tangled Wood...and ended up in the Windswept Plateau. There, he finally collapsed into a bleeding heap, on a ranch in the Windcurrent Clan. His armor had been torn to shreds, and his sword had been completely destroyed. He was bleeding from several wounds, a number of which were rather deep. And he would've died there...had a Sundial Imposter and his dragon master not encountered him. The rancher, Maverick, found Watanabe's crippled form, and quickly called for help from the clan's healer, Jay, and the clan's doctor, Maelgywn. Together, the two carefully brought Watanabe into Maverick's home, too worried to bring him further, due to the nature of his wounds. Watanabe woke up briefly, just enough to see where he was at and who saved him, before losing consciousness once more. Only this time, he was in a safe place.

As he recovered, Watanabe got to learn more about Maverick...and learned how to 'translate' what she said, as she had a rather unique accent and way of speaking. He came to admire her work on the ranch, and what she did. She raised and protected livestock for the clan to use as food, or even just as pets. But it was only her and her familiar, Bellmont the Sundial Imposter. She cared for his wounds, brought him food, and comforted him at night, when his fever spiked and made him delirious. Watanabe was warmed by her kind heart, and her cute smile. He was rather taken with the Spiral and, as soon as he had the strength to walk, he started doing rounds around the ranch, keeping a watchful eye on it, making sure no 'varmints' (as she called them) came in to attack the animals. His soul wanted to wander...but his heart wanted to stay. And so, he became a member of the Windcurrent Clan, for the now...and possibly, forever. Especially with Maverick at his side.

Watanabe is a calm individual, mostly quiet and keeping to himself. He enjoys good socialization from time to time, but when being around others becomes too much, he likes to be by his lonesome, either walking around Maverick's ranch, or simply flying lazily around in the sky, letting the sun warm his scales and wings. He likes playing with hatchlings, having no qualms with them, and he enjoys helping out where he can in the clan. When it comes to protecting it, Maverick, or the ranch, Watanabe shows no mercy. While he still remains calm in battle, his strikes are leathal and merciless. Especially if they're a dishonorable foe. He's made his life by the sword, and will continue following that path...until his life ultimately ends by the sword.
